Enigma Sapi - Problem Resolved

Is the sAPI listed under Add/Remove Programs? if so then try remove it from there and reinstall it.
Been there, done that - several times.

After uninstalling, I scan the registry for "enigmasapi". All cleared.

When installed, the 2 entries I find for the SAPI have a null value for key "InstallLocation". What do you have?

I even tried manually modifying the keys to point to where I wanted it installed and then ran the MSI installer and tried the REPAIR option. No change and the "InstallLocation" keys reverted back to null.

IT'S WORKING!

Backed up player folder. Uninstalled Enigma. Manually removed any references to "enigma", "tesseraction" and "dreamcatcher" from the Windows registry.

Rebooted. Reinstalled. Rebooted again. Entered CD key. Went into preferences and ran the mike test. I had to lean close to my built in mike but it worked!

Installed the US Gold upgrade patch. Rebooted. Restored my player directory. Started ERT. Agreed to EULA. :P Went into preferences and tested mike again. Works!

Started a patrol mission and barked some orders. Worked!

Played another 2 minutes and crashed to desktop.

I'm sure that was a fluke. At least I hope it was. Image

UPDATE: The crashes continued until I lowered the audio card's hardware acceleration setting from maximum down one notch. I had upped it yesterday during my testing of the SAPI problem and forgot to lower it. So, if you're having crashes, lowering audio card hardware acceleration might resolve the problem for you, too.

Now I'm whistling happy like Steamboat Willy!

Side note, here is a reccomendation for a piece of equipment that should not be forgotten when it comes to voice controlled games,... the price is too low compared to the new benefits that come with it..

head phones by plantronics - model# ".audio 90" (dont ask me why they use the dot in front of the word audio, but thats how you have to search for them..) one site offers them here www.provantage.com

I paid about $16.95ea. plus shipping and bought four or five of them for all my computers.. and many of the teamspeak users have heard the quality of my mic when I speak and went and bought the same pair. Everyone reports the best quality, most comfortable fitting, adjustable, booming audio headset they ever owned. Highs and lows for game playing and music playing were excellent.

The directional hearing in a submarine or any other first person shooter is highest quality.. so dont be miffed if I can locate and sneak up on you in any game..

I do not have to lean forward to my pc laptop "built in" mic, or a built in mic on my monitor and be annoyed by the fact others might complain my voice quality is poor.. these plantronics mics pick up your voice and transmit it clearly to the game and others.. no problems recognizing my voice commands.

Many people only concentrate on improving their computer graphics cards and frame rates.. but the human need for audio cues is even more important for submariners. The secret is out..
