Enigma Sapi - Problem Resolved

Just did a brand new install of the US Dreamcatcher version. When prompted, I had the Engima SAPI installed. It shows up in Control Panel, too.

But there's no Enigma SAPI folder to be found anywhere on my hard drive and my microphone test is failing me in Engima (upgraded to US Gold patch after install from CD). Running Windows own audio hardware test shows my mike is working just fine.

I tried reinstalling the SAPI from CD, from disk - nada! I disabled my anti-virus softare. No difference. There's no Enigma SAPI folder to be found!

Help! I want to bark orders - not click on 'em! Image

Windows XP SP2. Latest version of everything, including DX, video and audio drivers.

Onboard sound chipset is Sigmatel Audio.

No other problems with no other games or applications. What's oddest is that the folder isn't even created. And I ran Windows FIND utility to search the entire drive for it. Nothing found.

Changed the input device to th souncard's, although there's no specific mention of wave device in the dropdown list. The lits only contained the soundcard name.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Enigma Sapi and let the install directory location default. There's still no such directory.

Something's messed up. It looks like something in the registry might be messsing this up. I'll play a few regedit games and see what happens.

My mike works excellently in Windows Sound Recorder and in every other app.

As mentioned, I have XP Pro SP2 and all Windows and driver updates. I have nothing freaky or zany installed on my PC. I've got Norton Internet Security 2005 protecting my machine, with Windows firewall disabled.

What is registry protection? I've never heard of that supplied with Windows. I've got no 3rd party products that do such a thing. I've had no problems with installing any other software.

I just ran the MSI installer again (the one on the CD). No folder created but all of the screens showed it went through the motions of copying the files, deleting backups, etc. This is what happens every time.

UPDATE: OK. I found Permissions when running RegEdit, under the EDIT menu option. I'm running as admin. Permissions window shows ALLOW for FULL CONTROL and for READ. SPECIAL PERMISSIONS is grayed out with no check marks and not modifiable. When clicking on ADVANCED, it shows ALLOW and FULL CONTROL for everything except for RESTRICTED, which has READ permission only. I tried changing RESTRICTED to FULL CONTROL and it at first looks like it did but when I leave RegEdit and go back in again, RESTRICTED automatically reverts back to READ permission levels.

Once again, no other software has given me install problems.

UPDATE: Also, I tried installing the Enigma Sapi folder directly in my C: drive root. Same results.
