I Hate Nvidia

The only "GOOD" NVidia driver at the moment is the 5303 set - you can find them in the archives link at NVidia.

Before upgrading to our new machine ... I had an Asus Ti4200 deluxe. I had experimented with many different drivers on this card, as well as read many tech reports etc. The bottom line is: I found the 45.23 drivers the best for performance and stabitity. Its the best driver for the GeForce 4 cards. The 50.xx series and above are for the FX series cards.

Got to upgrade my video card soon. I was considering Nvidia, but from what i hear, I take it that is not the way to go? What would you all suggest for a good fast card?

Also I was having problems with the game barely being playable on those missions with like lots of ships and planes. I'm runnig ERT on my lower end system because the graphics card on my good one, doesnt run ERT well. The game just runs really bad, when there is a full scale was goin on. On the last two LFN sub missions, i just sat at about 190m, and let AI duke it out....It worked, but i didnt get to play. I'm guessing i need more ram to fix this? I got a 2.0 Ghz Pentium, and run ERT off of a different drive, all my background programs are off, and no adware.

Any insight to this wold be awesome

What videocard do you have now and how much RAM does your computer have?

nVIDIA cards are ok, IMO they are better than ATi.

Myself I have an FX5200 with 128MB RAM, and I cant complain. its a card in the $80 bucks class.

Also I have 512 MB RAM in my box, and my CPU is an XP2700+ (2167 mhz)

My new PC has a Radeon 9200/128MB, plus 512MB DDR RAM and a P4 2.8GHz HT .

Thats true, older cards like GF4 TIxxxx & MX440 should just use the 45,03 driver as the later versions are built primarily for the FX Generation.

My new motherboard is a Nvidia board , it is one of the more stable boards on the market.

I also get stalls and stuttering. Sure wish that PC (WinXP) had startup sets similar to Mac's so you could boot to a game set or standard set. Can't event use a boot disk any more . .

Try the 45.03s from the main Nvidia.com site. They are pretty stable for most cards and should be backwards compatible with your GF2 card. Preferably, if you can afford it, get a decent mid range card like a FX5700 ultra which should cost well under a ?100 these days.

Often stuttering will be caused by too high an acceleration setting on your audio card and/or by outdated audio drivers. You can also experience this if: your min and max swap file sizes are not the same AND you don't have at least 750mb set aside for swap file. Better 1024mb
