Hey Mates

I was just wondering if anyone can help me to make up my mind on a new system,I am thinking of going with a AMD 64 FX 55,but I don't know what to do for a motherboard...I think I want the pci express on it...Also hung up on memory...

We use the K8V-SE Deluxe boards, 1gb ram, 64bit AMD for our development machines

AFAIK there is no AMD64 PCIe motherboards out (yet), so unless you want Intel (more expensive) you should wait

and no I dont know for how long you have to. VIA allready made chipsets for AMD64 PCIe boards, there just isnt any manufactures

If it was me, I would wait but if I were rich I'd go for one of the Intel 970 boards with atleast 2xPCIe so I could eventually bridge 2x nVIDIA FX6800 Ultra cards, As East said 1GB DDR2 RAM, and some SerielATA harddisks (to cover the needs you have for diskspace)

Im not sure what socket the chip you want uses, but Gigabite just released a board based on the new Nforce4 chipset. It has socket 939, PCIe SLI mode for graphics (dual graphicscards) and many other features. But like I said, I don't know if this is the right socket for your chip you want.

Well I am planning on getting the AMD 64 FX 55 aswell after xmas, and I was under the impression that a socket 939 was the way to go with it as it has PCI express. By the way personally I would not touch intel with a barge pole!

Looks good, but you should wait and see how some reviews come out. I have an Asus now, and I can recommend them, but it is always good to check out how thier CURRENT line is running. This motherboard looks like it has lots of upgrade capability, SATA3, SLI graphics, onboard lan, integrated firewall, good list of other features. Im interested in this board as well, but I have not seen a retail of it yet.
