Question About The Storyline

#1
I love Enigma, but the storyline kind of irks me. By the time the campaigns end, there is no official war, no conclusion; just the US Pearl Harbor type raid on Scapa. We see Richtofen demand conversion of Bismarck and Tirpitz, Churchill declare war on everybody within his senile line of sight (sorry Winny, I love you, but that speech was rather sorry), but there is no conclusion.

The player, as the skipper, doesn't get to fight in an actual war (although, as a sub commander, you've sunk almost a million tons of enemy shipping; isn't that war?) . What happens? Does England retake good old Albion? You can't leave this up to my warped imagination. ;)

Or, are the money-grubbers (just kidding East. We love you to death) at Tesseraction Games whetting our appetites for a sequel?

Or, me being a certified moron, did I just completely miss something?

That's probably it.

Just my opinion. I love this sim. However, if the storyline had been North Atlantic, Coral Sea and Midway it'd had sell ten more times. Carriers ops and real battleships battles would have been much more interesting than the actual "what if". But again, its just MHO.

Now, I know there will be 2nd chapter, but Silent Hunter III and PT Boats are at the horizon. I wish the staff all the best but ERT is at least 1-2 years late.

If there are serious plans to be competitive with SHIII or PT Boats then you need to come up with something fast, and not just another re-work of the original Enigma! If Enigma II is not significantly different from Enigma it will just look outdated immediately. There is only so much tweaking you can do with textures and fx to make something look new :!!:

No question about this, again, perils of being a small company. You should be encouraged that both games have adopted Enigma's gameplay style.

And it doesn't have to be done fast, it has to be done well.

What we are bringing to the table this next year is more than competitive.

Just my opinion. I think that people should stop ragging on TAG, and let them do their jobs. They are working very hard to get a MP game out for us. If everyone keeps saying that they need to do this and that, and make ERT so much different, and they did these things, then it would be another year or so before we get MP.

Although, I would imagine they have taken many of our suggestions to heart, and implemented them into the game, I'm sure they are working furiously to get it all wrapped up and tested so that they can get it delivered to us.

This right here just made me think I had to say something.......

Monterey - we are talking about two different things here. I am hoping that all of the furious working on a SEQUEL to Enigma will produce something as fresh and innovative as the first Enigma was by keeping ahead of current trends in naval warfare gaming. You are talking about the multiplayer element of the ORIGINAL Enigma which came out in 2002 and is still not implemented, although that was not through any fault of Tesseraction I believe.
