There is a serious problem about mines: Everyone is threatened by them once they have been deployed. This includes the side that deployed them.

In E:RT Multiplayer this could be a fantastic opportunity for teamkilling or (if you reduce the number of mines carried) leave the mines close to uselessness.

Even if you can see the mines that had been deployed by your side they will still be there, and they'll be an obstacle at best. There were no mines equipped with IFF - systems - even today there are no mines equipped with these systems.

I don't think that's entirely true... the US is supposed to have (I haven't seen any personally yet) sub-launched mobile mines that can distinguish between types of ships and attack on cue from only specifically pre-programmed sound patterns.

Really though, that's not so important. The fact of the matter is that as far as I know there weren't any mines in WWII or thereabouts that could independantly detonate themselves when a specific ship passed over, so that makes you right buxton:

Wow... I live enigma!:

Mines certainly would make it more historic, but I hate them, lets not go there. cry: It is one thing to be killed by another player and entirely something different to be killed by a bomb floating on a chain. I agree with Ulsterman.
