Single Player Or Multiplayer?

I purchased ERT at my local software store just before Christmas and have had to figure a few things out on my own. First, there are so many companies credited with this game it's hard to figure out who supports it. The war-fleet.com site is not a very good site either. I had to hunt for the latest patch.

Also, I keep seeing references to a 'Massively Multiplayer" game. Is this the game? I don't see how to play against anyone else. I also see references to a single player game. Which is it? crazy:

Third: no cheats? No way to modify it and really have fun with it? I know the purists raise their noses to this, but hey, it's a game for fun! Let's have the ability to warp it to our sense of fun!

We have a bunch of different publishers currently (hence the listings). Best website is www.warfleet.net (home site for Enigma). Followed by subsim.com and here of course.

The version you bought is the singleplayer game. Multiplayer is under-construction (we are pretty small)

No cheats because it was never intended to be a singleplayer product....

No mods for the same reason - we are expanding it and creating some modding tools so you can alter the singleplayer.

Must admit I'm not very enthusuiastic about multiplayer gaming. I much prefer single player games provided the AI is reasonably good and that its possible to set up custom scenarios with a mission builder of sorts. I must admit i'm very impressed by the graphics and realistic atmosphere in the game, although some of the missions seem rather artificial (eg sinking 4 subs in < 1 minute etc).
