Voice Command Requests

Before you post here, check out the

Voice Commands
theres a couple voice commands i would like to use. maybe some people have some requests.
1. i would like to be able to use "reverse" instead of "back" so it would be "reverse flank" instead of "back flank" it just seems a bit more natural to say.

2. maybe it would be possible to bypass the "rudder" command. so you could just say "set port 1 0" or something like that. i dont know if the "rudder" command is in there for any reason other to make it easier to associate the command with turning.

3. i dont know if this ones already in there, but a command to stop diving, or stop surfacing. so i can crash dive, and stop when i reach 100m or wherever.

4. in the heat of battle i often find myself saying "Blow tanks" instead of "blow ballast" because a) the button says "blow tanks" and b)having palyed the demo's alot without using the voice software, i've almost completely associated "blow tanks" with emergency surface. maybe you can have the both commands do the same thing.

more will come to me as i play, and im sure alot of other people have ones they would like to see. great job with the voice recognition interface, i only have to use my mouse to pan the views around, and in the heat of battle i have to give the odd command with keyboard, or stop a command that was mis-interpreted.

this voice software is absolutely amazing, i remember going to a university open house with a bunch of stuff (the local university is where the "V-chip" was created, this open house is also where that was unvieled) and they had a computer setup with voice command software to navigate the desktop of windows. it hardly worked, even for the person who's voice the software was "trained" to. this voice command system is so competent i cant believe its gotten so far. it makes the game 100% more immersive, the only problem is when im at 200m with my engines cut, i often wisper my commands (like im actually in the sub) and the mic doesnt pick it up all the time.
First of all, many thanks for starting a new topic on the subject?? there is 2 allready?
1: I think "back" is more natural to say than "reverse"

2: good idea, I kinda cant get "set rudder port 30 degrees" to work (or any other, could be mispronounciation), it would be nice with "set rudder port 1" 2 or 3 where it would adjust rudder according the the seperator on the rudder.

3: use HOLD DEPTH

4: "ballast" is the correct word IMO.

As for your whispering thing, you should try adjust the recognition profile settings in the speech applet, I dont have a problem, if I speak low or even whispers ;)

3. i dont know if this ones already in there, but a command to stop diving, or stop surfacing. so i can crash dive, and stop when i reach 100m or wherever.
HOLD DEPTH will stop the sub from diving.

SET DEPTH X-X-X will also work. (where the X's are digits)

thanks for the input!

Voice Command Requests

Hi there, first post, I'm an old naval war fan from way back to WARSHIP on the ol' APPLE II.

Is there a difference between the voice commands "SET COURSE..." and "SET HEADING"? They both seem to do the same thing for me, setting course to the compass heading and not the bearing. Not that having a different phrase for the same action is bad. I think it is nice to have mulitple command phrases for ease of use.

I find that I frequently would like to turn a degree relative to my current course (port or starboard 0-180 degrees). Could this be added? I didn't find a command for it. The command I would like is "PORT..." or "STARBOARD..." and then the number.

So to turn 45 degrees left you would say "PORT FOUR FIVE".

To reverse course you could say "STARBOARD (OR PORT) ONE EIGHT ZERO"

I would also like to see a "(name of gun)OPEN FIRE" or maybe "COMMENCE FIRING" command. I know "ENGAGE" does this but isn't "open fire" or "commence firing" a little more naval sounding?

Having played around quite abit with Game Commander I often will set up multiple commands that do the same thing. Gives you a little more flexibility in the heat of battle.

So far I'm enjoying the game and liking what I'm seeing so far. Way to go buxton:
