Waiting For Multi

Yes . we know about the GMX and all that ,, and on balance it would be better to wait till the MP is completely done ,,rather than too soon .

Still... Some of us are waiting a long while now.

The cost and the possibility of using 56k connections , and a pay method which doesnt require a card ( whereever one is ) are a few things I hope are sorted by that time .

I dont want to patch . I'd prefer just an updated new CD when the time comes , and content with a good multiplayer , and playable SP.

Yes I have finished and have moved on, so I am waiting for the MP as well, however I am and have played these types of games and all of them I know of have download updates m8. thats the true MMOGs, ie. UO, DAoC etc.

Thats why I got ADSL.

Putting a download file on the internet is much cheaper than producing cds. TAG makes free updates and to maintain a MMPOG you need to constantly make changes in small minor patches. It's not logistically possible to put this on cd. By the time you got the cd it would be out of date.

Even if TAG put the big 150mb worth of patch on cd it would not be worth the production costs unless you are willing to pay for it and gurantee each one is sold. Its just not economically viable.

Maybe TAG could set up some kind of postal patch cd for the really huge patches. Costs the buyer shipping and production costs. But you will never totally avoid downloads in a MMPOG.
