Skippers Guide To Depth Charging

Charges always missing? Enemy submarines evading your boat? Took a torp up the ass because you coudn't sink his sub? Well, fret no more, I have a solution for you.

Find your enemy sub contact and close on him as rapidly as possible. Once you know his direction, turns so you are behind him, on his heading, at Flank Speed. Once you pass him, wait till he's ~100 yds astern and launch charges at 150 m depth. Shoudl nail him about 2/3 of the time.

If approaching from the bow, same process, but drop the charges 100m ahead of him and continue on over his sub.

I did this with the Buckley class DE in the first US mission with it. I had two DC's left. I used this tactic, and they nailed the bastard, which means I hit him perfectly, b/c I only had two.

If you learn this tactic, and are in the habit of using it, well.. you may have problems when playing a person instead of a computer AI controlled sub.

I have illustrated a different tactic that takes into account how to approach a sub in his weak spots.. and has the highest probability of keeping your ship alive whether you use it against ai or real persons..

Yes the torpedoes will travel at depths set, "IF" you properly click on the buttons with red lights to confirm which torpedo / tube is the one you expect to set the depth on.

Turn the dial to whatever depth you like, and click the red light, try to fire a torp from periscope depth, but set it to go lower for example 40meters, and watch it from external camera mode, it will dive down out of sight..

If it does dive down out of sight, I suspect you will not see the trail on the surface, because you will have no time to go above water, so maybe try this while surfaced as well..
