Range Marks ?

I am fairly new to the game. I need some help on finding my range to target. Both on the maps and the periscope. Help will be appreicated. I understand the increase and decrease on the map (tactical display) but can't hit a bull in the ass with a shouvel ,when useing the periscope.

I generally wait until ships are within at least 1.5km (max view range is 4km i think) before firing, you should have a good picture using x5 magnification on the scope. Fire a good spread with the target in the middle and you should score a hit. Also make sure that youre pointed straight at the target for close attacks such as this.

Those are my basic tips but like Jesper says theres loads more help you can find.

no actually i think this thread deserves a little more discussion. on real subs, you can use the marks to make a rough but moderatly close estimate of your targets distance, but (at least the USN subs) in enigma, there are no marks to use to make calculations or guesses on the tactical periscope.

To be honest i'm not sure which range marks are being refered to, i'm not much of a Salmon fan, LFN is my favourite.

I've always used the tactical display to gauge what the distance to target is then raise the attack scope once i'm in range. After that what i said in my previous post seems to work well enough for me.

Not being a simmer i rely more on my mk1 eyeballs rather than working out the angles. Some would call it guessing i call it experience

Maybe someone more experienced can clear up this diappearing range marks thing.

There's a very simple way to lead your target. If it's a manueverable boat that evades you when you fire, just fire a spread and a few are bound to hit. If it's a merchantman, point the crosshair about half the ship's length in front of the ship. The fish should hit near the end of the merchant.
