Blowing Engines Whilst In Peanut Gallery

Gents,

 

It maybe that like me you have become frustrated by the fact that having brought you aeroplane home safely you taxi to dispersal, chocks in, engine off, and sit there with, perhaps a glass of something and maybe a smoke, to watch the rest of the fellows land and have a quick cockpit debrief and then your switched-off engine boils over and pops the radiators.  It happened en-masse the other evening and nearly all of us had planes heading to the workshops even though we had brought them home safe and sound.

 

Well I am told, by a usually reliable informant (previous information graded not below A2), that the trick is once you have shut down your engine to then immediately close your radiator.  You might want to try it.
