I have beat the submarine missions in single player.

However i cant seem to get past mission 5 playing surface.

Destroying an enemy submarine is virtually impossible.

No matter what depth i set my charges at, nor what speed i set,

and even setting my radar to 500 meters I cannot hit subs.

In fact I think i have only destroyed a submarine using depth charges

one time that i can remember.

Unless theres something major changed when MP goes live I can see

an overwhelming sub to ship ratio in the game.

I have read lots of post on the forums and I have tried suggestions

and reported techniques but I just cant seem to get the hang of

determining a subs depth and destroying them.

I thought i would post this and see what your input on this is.

I had the same concerns, since I could never sink subs with DCs either. The patch gives a much better degree of control over depth charges and now I'm not bad at sending subs to a watery grave.

Patience is the key with subs. If all else fails, eventually they will run out of air and batteries and have to surface.

Heck! Same with me. The DCs seem to work like dice roll in this game. You hit or not. No matter what techinque you use.

I do hope to see some changes with the next patch.

Well in the patch the AI sub dive faster, so it's harder...But still training is the tip. Always attack head to head or by the rear. If he shoots torps at you and your below 1 km,set DC at 120 meters, afterward, if the sub doesn't fire torps again drop DC at 220 meters. Use voice commands to input the depht, or wait the patch :)

I find DC hunting fun bu frustrating. In the earlier demo where you can play as an English/Japanese corvette (Badger?), at one point I was sitting right over an enemy sub, dropping DCs and manoeuvring very tactically and nicely. i reckoned 'this time for sure', only to be sunk by torps from two of his mates...

Sigh. Still, great game!

i did 3 DC runs if i still hadnt guessed the right depth i then just pulled up abeam of the sub and waited for ti to surface. then when it did kaboom torps guns and even the kitchen sink is launched at the sub!
I wish I had some bait to lure suckers to the surface. Perhaps a beautiful girl left on a dinghy? :D I bet it would be something poor submariners couldn't refuse :P
