Greetings to the IL-2 1946 TOW commnity. My handle is Kabayo and I am the CO and founder of The 1st All Dedicated Virtual Bomber Group. I am here
because I am looking for a Home Base of Operation for my Bomber Group. After talking to MCVG-2 Ranger and Tow_Tbar. I have decided that the TOW
community would be the best place for my Bomber Group to be. So I am Formally requesting that the 1st All Dedicated Virtual Bomber Group be added into the TOW Community as a Dedicated Bomber Group.
Some infro about me, I will be 60 yrs old this Aug.6th, I served in the United States Marine Corps, I am a Viet Nam Vet, I served Two Tours of Duty in Viet Nam from March 1968 to May 1969 and again from Feb. 1970 to Nov. 1970. I am marred to a Filipino woman and we have a 4 yr old daughter. I am retired and now living in the Philippines with my wife and daughter.
I have been flying both off line and on line virtual air combat flight sims since 1987. I was CO and founding father of the 332nd Fighter Group Tuskegee Redtails, which was started in April 1999 and is still going strong even today in IL-2. Bearcat99 who has the Group now was with me back in CFS when Patches and I started the Group. So I have Command experince with forming and maintaining a Group.
About the The 1st All Dedicated Virtual Bomber Group. The 1st All Dedicated Virtual Bomber Group started out as the 47th/312th Bomb Group (Light)
which was created in Dec. 2008, flying A-20's doing Tactical Low Level Groud/Support Attacks and plus Anti-Shipping Attacks. It seem no matter how hard I tried to get pilots to join, no one was interested in joining a Dedicated Bomber Group, I guess every one wants to be a fighter jock (hehehehehe). After the introductions of the mods with the flyable AI planes, like the B-17's,B-24 and B-29. I started to tinker with them and came to liking them so much that I decided to revamp the Group and added a couple more Bomber groups to make it more interesting. I added the 43rd BG (H) and the 97th BG (H) to the two bomber groups I had and renamed it The 1st All Dedicated Virtual Bomber Group. This Bomber Group will act as one group but fly four different Historical Bomber Group. The 312th Bomb Group (Light) an A-20 Group and the 43rd Bomb Group (H) which flew B-17's and B-24. These two Groups flew in the PTO. The 47th Bomb Group (Light) flew A-20's in the MTO, while the 97th Bomb Group flew B-17's in both the ETO/MTO. In fact the the 97th Bomb Group (H) flew the first USAAF combat bombing mission on Aug 17th, 1942 to Rouen France.
The 1st All Dedicated Virtual Bomber Group is a closed cockpit, full real, full immersion Bomber Group. The Training will long and hard, however in the end the training will make the 1stadvbg the best bomber group in the IL-2 1946 community.
I am a relax kind of guy, however when we are training and doing a mission, I can be hard nose and very disciline type CO.
That should cover everything about me and the 1st All dedicated Virtual Bomber Group.

Welcome to tidesofwar. This is great news as Tides of War has felt that the level (and any other type actually) bombing is very under represented and we have casual IL2 flyers who would really like to learn those skills.
We need to discuss what services you feel you might need.
Firstly let me introduce myself a little. I am Gosling, Tides Air Marshal. It's just a title really and means I am responsible for everything Air related in tides. I say responsible, rather than in charge of, as I see it as trying to assist our general membership to get as much gaming in as possible. We have two main air communities (although they are not mutually exclusive) - Airattack and IL2. Airattack pretty much runs itself and I have very little to do with it. Tbar is the main contributor. Many of the pilots also dable or even fly consistantly in IL2 as well.
Recently we have established 2 IL2 Servers:
ToW:Slybirds - Easy, open cockpit configuration to allow those pilots just getting started with IL2 somewhere to fly and learn the basics
ToW:MCVG2 - Full Switch, FISC - Primarily to support our Marine Corps Squadron here at tides. This Server will also include Bomber missions when we have improved the missions that are there at the moment.
Okay, so what do you need.
We are capable of providing a home for you and your cohorts.
- Forums is the obvious and we can set those up for you. I do have the clearernce to do that but haven't maniputlated them for some time so I will get support from other tides members to help there.
- Access to the Server - Well our servers are open to all as the vast majority of tides facilities are to the general public.
- Teamspeak comms - Again we have open teamspeak for all and channels can be allocated to your group. There are bomber channels already.
- Website - again this can be achieved. It can be either as raw html webspace or as a content managed website.
Now clearly alot of effort may go into providing your group this kind of support and that is the point that many find difficult to understand about tides. We really are here to help. We want everyone to enjoy their time at tides. Those members who become full members of ToW do so to assist more then the general membership and we all contribute financially to the upkeep of tides. We see it as a priviledge to be a full member. All we ask is that our Battle Groups, of which your group may well become, promote tidesofwar.net in a positive and beneficial light during their gaming. Please bear in mind the very voluntary nature of the support a group like yours will recieve and that not everything can be completed in a commercial timescale, things take time, we all have day jobs too... :-)
Okay I have rambled enough, I look forward to working with you all to make your group a fully fledged battle group within tidesofwar and the lead bomber unit for our general IL2 aviators.
