B-29 Alley Map Mod

FYI Guys.....

Ok, I nearly fell out of my chair with my jaw literally hitting the my keyboard when Gosling told me about this over comms this morning. After going to the following link, we now see that once again, the AAA Community has outdone themselves once again.

For those of you who wanted to see multiple PTO Mapsheets tied together to support long range open ocean bomber missions from say Saipan or Guam to strike at either Iwo Jima, Okinawa or mainland Japan well that is now possible in this game.

The island of Iwo Jima has no airfields on it per say for technical reasons but the rest of the maps do and from the looks of it, these maps are v. 408m standard. As far as I'm concerned, thats ok with me. We just now have many more options to consider when making either a DF or COOP Mission in the PTO to support our carrier operations as a Group.

The new B-29 Map mod ( 409b1m) can be viewed here.

Look at this map and think of the possibilities guys.

Also, there is a new B-29 cockpit version 4 that is out and available now so any previous cockpit versions for the B-29 need to be deleted and this new cockpit with bomber added into your 409 mods folder.

Enjoy

HOLY EXTENDED FLIGHTS BATMAN!!!

Imagine if you would, our carried strike force somewhere halfway between Iwo and Okinawa we takeoff just before dawn fully armed with drop tanks. Head westernly and make our strike on the island then fly our nice long trip back. Total flight time about three and a half hours and then try to land on the boat. I'm getting jittery just thinking about it. I will start to download it and work on a couple interesting missions, like say an Air Corp precurser to our initial invasion of Okinawa with the bombers with P-51 escorts flying from Saipan to Naha and back. The posibilities I can't wait.

Yeah its about a 5 hr flight from Guam roundtrip to Naha. Prob. need the carriers at halfway for the TBMs. Any volunteers?
We will need to conduct an endurance test to see how far our aircraft can actually fly on this particular map sheet. If we use the COOP method from moving carriers, fighters can carry Drop Tanks along with any rockets and or bomb loadouts accordingly. We can power back on the Throttle as well as with the Prop Pitch to gain extra distance for both the TBM and Corsair.

In any event, this new map will be very cool to fly on since it would be considered very realistic as to how flight ops were conducted back in that era.

Once moving objects become a reality in the Dog Fight mode which should be fairly soon within the AAA community, you can just imagine the possibilities.
