hi guys,

The server I have planned to host the domain on is one that I have used for many years and has 99.95% uptime. I guess most server and hosting companies will tell you that anyhow, but this server not only has the BBC website on it but many client websites as well so reliability is a huge factor for me in my business.

I will host the site free of charge as I have many other client that pay for the server costs so I have no issues with the site being there.

We use cPanel for those that are familiar with it. Very easy to use and work with should you need to add email accounts etc. The host that TS use had the same control panel from what I can see.

For ease of use I suggest we go for a Linux based server running cPanel with Fantastico.

I don't want to slow this process up, however I have to ask some questions here .. only so that we remember 'why' we are moving off of TowNet .. independence. Independent of 'what' I asked so many times.

I thought .. we wanted to be independent of Tbar ..or Tides of War, TowNet?

Tides of War simply "hosts" BSS as they would anyone that had a need.

Tbar is a squad member of the BSS and simply a player like anyone else here.

So .. in the spirit of "independence" should we not just be hosted by a commercial site that has no connection to any of at all? No connection to a Squad in any way, no connection to any of us as individuals in any way? This is purely academic question .. and does go to the 'meat' of why we are moving the site. Yes .. No?

@Inferno Yes, I'm sure we can have an emergency meeting of the BoD .. all the Director needs do is "call for one" ??

It does not really matter windows or linux so long as everything we would want to do .. can be done. Cpanel, Spher or whatever does not matter, again, so long as we are not restricted. What ever the WM feels most comfortable with would be ok with me. Pro's and Con's either way.

It has to be in Somebodies name m8, you know that.
Of course .. I know that :") Well aware of it, and that is one reason why I avoided all instances of "money" being involved with the USAAC at the onset.

I'm just asking da questions again .. asking everyone to put on da 'ol thinking cap :)

If I didn't love the USAAC and AA and all you guys .. I would never say anything.. nor do anything .. and frankly would not give a damn. But I do care.

If you want USAAC to independent you have to do it the correct and legal way, which means you have to legally incorporate the USAAC. Which brings us to the next item, What state to incorporate the USAAC in. Which now bring us to yet another question, where will the funding for this not for profit corporation come from. I just set my company corporation up in the State of Florida which cost me just under $200.00. I had lots of help from a legal attorney friend who guided me along the way. He normally charges between $225.00 to $550.00. Pretty much the going rate for setting up a corporation with an attorney.

Doing this is the only way to make the USAAC "independent" of any one person or group of people. Total control will fall to the elected board of directors. By the way a yearly report will need to be filed with the State that the USAAC is incorporated in. In Florida it's $150 to file the report every year.

If the USAAC does not go this route then it will not be independent and making a change was for nothing.

I waited all day to see what responses were going to come from Tbar's question but there has not been any.

We should be hosted by a hosting company not affiliated with any of staff members even tho FireStorm and Townet is gracious on a freebee.

Even tho Tbar is right that he thought we wanted to be independent from him or TOW, TowNet and by taking FireStorms offer will make us look like hypocrites that we can be hosted by TowNet thus backing us into a corner to choose either to pay for an outside Hosting company or hurting TBar's and TowNet's feelings by being straight up and saying, "We want Independence from TBar and TowNet".

I believe the consensus would be Freedom from TBar and TowNet, at least that is what my feeling is and everyone knows me as being straight up and to the point. I would also like to see FireStorm host USSAC on his server for free to minimize cost but not to start a war with TBar or TowNet I would pay for the 1st year of hosting myself just so we don't have to hear Independence but mean Freedom.

Tbar, for me speaking my mind and my opinion do what you want with me, if you wish me to go away like the wind I can do that and will, I will sit back and let nature take it's course and will be there for the USAAC when the time comes.

I want to be free from TBar but will fly with you talk to you and be your friend but I dam sure want to be free from this environment.
