Firstly I would like to thank everyone for electing me as your new webmaster. I will try my best to do everything expected of me.

Secondly, I would like to begin by saying that being a webmaster/hosting company is my business. This is what I have done for over 10 years and have a successful business doing this.

In saying this I would also like to add that we need to be organised in what we do and where we go from here. I will break this into 2 sections - Hosting and Website

HOSTING

It was voted to move the USAAC site to a new host. I would like to share some of these options with you and let the BoD choose how they would like to proceed from here.

I run and operate 3 servers myself as part of my business plus as part of another business I am involved with as a director, I also manage another server. This makes 2 US based servers and 2 AU based servers. The hosting options I propose are these:

1. As part of the BoD and Internet gaming community in general, I would like to offer space on one of our US based servers. This space will have a domain control panel that will have 2 administrators capable of doing any major changes on the domain. Should one admin be unable to do any of the duties assigned to him, then there will be a backup. No single person should have access to the control panel.

2. We purchase some space from a reputable hosting company located in the US. This would cost us around US$15 per month. Once again I can organise this as well.

Another point we need to think about is the domain. Are we going to continue to use airattack.us or purchase another domain for the new site? There are many reasons for using the current domain so we need to consider what will be best for Air Attack in general.

WEBSITE

By now most of you have looked over the site and have your own thoughts on the content that should or could be there. What I need now is some direction as to where you want to take the site. What are your expectations and how can we improve on what we already have.

I need your input from the word GO. Seeing another meeting is a month away, I would like to have the site near completion by then for review but cannot do this without valued input from theBoD.

I ask all of you to note down what you want from the site, how you would like to improve it and any ideas you might want to put forward. Then either send to me via email or post here in the forums for others to review also.

One idea I have to promote more interest in the site, is to invite all AA pilots to add an Air Attack video to Youtube and we can publish this on our site. If we get enough takers we can rotate these on a weekly or monthly basis.

If anyone has any questions in regard to anything I have mentioned or any queries at all please do not hesitate to contact me.

I say go go go go :)

AS a webmaster myself.. all that Fire says is spot on.

Hosting wise .. get moving asap. No need to hold up on that.

Site wise.. you can tweak as you go. Anything and all files on the current site can be copied transfered in a heart beat... with one exception .. the forums.

Forums the FM needs time on .. there is a lot of set up .. and much files to copy. The sooner the new site is UP for file transfers etc, the sooner the FM can get to work. The forum files that you want to keep are the vast majority of the work at this point I would think .. unless you decide not to keep any of them. Skinning the forums, you can take your time on.

CLP

The sooner you have the hosting worked out .. the sooner you can get all the graphics etc needed from some of the CLP systems .. mostly Fun Events and League Events.

I had registered this morning on the new site and ready to get to work.

My opinion about transferring forum threads would be a fresh start except introductory post which I will go thru our existing ones and copy and paste these into the new website.

Pilots in Action block on front page other then that as TBar has stated we can tweak as we go along.

Hosting on the US server is a great idea Firestorm and the only thing left would be Team Speak, which is no problem.

The Domain name. in my opinion, should either be transferred to Firestorm or Kidd.

Locked and loaded, Mod team ready to go to work.

If you want to think about a domain name here are the domains available at time of writing. Note: the .info domains are US$1.99 each with the .com or others being US$9.99 per year.

I would like to purchase a domain for development purposes but need approval as to which you prefer.

airattackus.com

airattack-us.com

air-attack.net

airattackus.net

airattack.info

airattacksite.us

airattackonline.us

Why in the world would you change the domain name? Its legacy .. It's a perfect domain name, clean , simple and straight up.

If you going to dump all the old threads .. then why was it insisted on keeping them all in the first place? When it was suggested that the forums be cleaned out of "old junk" .. the BoD said its "history we want to keep everything". Not that I agreed, but that was the decision.

Whatever the BOD decides, I will just create the new forums and hold for a clear direction.

I agree on the current Domain Name, I believe the transfer of the current domain name is not clear on how to go about it, I'm assuming.

Well Tbar

If your going to gift the domain name I guess that would be fine.

not that I really know much about all this. (web dummy Pop )

but I think Fire just wanted to get a cheepie at the moment

just to work on the site there and then move it to its final resting spot when its complete. I think?
