NoI believe I fall into the "staff" category
If you are not a "manager" or "voice" or "director" you should not be posting in this forum .. or moderating this forum.
Granted .. the word staff meant one thing with the BoD was established .. and the meaning has transformed to something else at this time. This is clear .. and a 'definition is in order .. clarification is in order. We do NOT want to put people in embarrassing situations. I repeat a statement I made a long time ago: Because you have the power .. does not mean you should use the power..
I do NOT fault any of the moderators or folks that had previous privileges for posting in here as WE don't really know the rules .. I simply make a reminder post .. and intend to have this brought up at the next BoD meeting. The BoD MUST have an area they can post and let it all hang out... privately. Its important.
I fault the BoD for not keeping up with things. I do know that I advised/informed the FM about NOT moderating this area .. and not allowing moderators to post in here.
I have known for sometime the x-members of the BoD have had access here and are able to read the post. I really don't have a problem with that because they know what should be kept confidential .. and I don't think they would abuse that. AT the last several BoD meetings I wanted to discuss this .. but there was always more important business to attend to. This is a minor thing in the grand scope so to speak.
The question that might be asked right off:
1) If moderators are not supposed to post in here .. why are they listed as "forum lead by".
Answer: Because that is the way I was directed to set this up .. even when I clearly suggested it should not be. I was told "do it", so I did. This question now needs to be asked of the FM .... and the BoD needs to decide how they want the FM to treat this area.
2) If a person has access here .. then that means they can post right? If not .. then why do they have access?
Answer: Because access here is simply controlled by Password. It is not nor was it ever my responsibility to make a pw change so that members exiting could no longer have access. My responsibility as Webmaster and Forum Manager at the time was to take 'direction' from the BoD, not decide what and when things should be done. If the BoD directed me to change a pw .. I did so, not until then. If a Manager responsible for a certain area wanted a pw changed .. I did so. But it was NOT my responsibility to 'give' that information to anyone except the person that made the request .. its up to that responsible person to 'give' the pw out to whom they felt should have it.
Other:
We have always had the ability to use 'groups' where folks can be switched from one group to another or be members of several groups. Groups allow you to enter forums without the need of a password. The only problem with groups .. is you need a dedicated FM .. now we have one
Consider also we will have new forums shortly .. so we will have to learn the power of that forum and we can get started correctly with having members 'register' and then put into groups such as : BoD, FM, Webmaster, CO/XO, etc. Rules for that forum etc can be built up from experiences we have now gained.
