There is a time and place for everything...Moral cowardice that keeps us from speaking our minds is as dangerous to this country as irresponsible talk.
I dont' think there are any "cowards" that visit this camp ...
.. and should be..We?re mature enough and should be capable, to have a civilized discussion
I love 'key words' ... I put them everywhere ... especially for google.
I'm confused .. what is the topic of this thread again?
I'm confused .. are we supposed to stay on topic?
I like Korean Food ... cept I don't like the squid like stuff ... maybe what I really like is 'americanized' Korean food .. cuz I've only been to restaurants in the USA. Do you think I would still like Korean Food .. If I had dinner in Korea?
OH.. and I prefer coffee over tea .. but .. I like German Beer better than American Beer. Mountain Dew is the best soft drink I think .. I'm addicted to them
I like to 'buy American'.. but the dern Germans and their beer mess me up ... what's a beer drinker to do?
I like to 'buy American' .. and keep an American employed and our factories in the USA ... but, I can't afford to 'buy' any more..
'Made is the USA' used to be something I looked for .. but can't hardly find anymore .. what's up with this .. why don't they print that anymore?
I like to be patriotic .. it makes me feel good. I put out an American flag on the 4th of July .. when I went to take it down.. its was gone .. replaced with another flag. I called the police .. they were busy with more important things.
I'm confused... again.
Tbar is confused and that is a healthy way to be. You see Tbar the thing about democracy and free speech is that it isn't neat, orderly or quiet. To enjoy that democratic freedom, therefore, you have to be prepared for a certain amount of confusion. I for one am very pleased that everything is not cut and dried, ready to fall into nice neat pigeon holes.
Relax, go with the flow and enjoy the confusion.
Relax, go with the flow and enjoy the confusion.
Ow...there are so many different little and big things pissing me off, I can?t tell.Yes Tulla that is correct, What pisses you off.
But I?am currently concerned with globality regarding economy most, as I?ve mentioned in a previous post of mine already. I don?t need to tell you about China and how we all (western countries) teached them to produce goods for us. Cheap goods in bad quality. Then we sold them our technologies and machines and now they can flood our markets, not only with cheap products but also in high quality. Germany was world-champion in exporting high-quality goods over decades. No more. Last year we got beaten by China the first time and for sure not the last time. They?re producing faster, in higher quantities and nearly similar qualities. Chinas population is simply too huge and the chinese are simply too humble (they have to be), so that we?ll never can win that back again. They?re lowering our loans. Not only ours but also yours, I think.
Now I?m not angry with the chinese. I?m angry with ours - (and yours), all western politicians, who supported economy globalization from the very early days on. It was foreseeable, such a mess would happen but they all were so profit voracious.
I?m living in a small town near the german north-sea coast. I?m working in a medium-sized aluminium foundry (casting house ?) business with round about 60 employees. We are producing mainly high quality aluminium- conductors for ?Siemens?.

Siemens again is selling these conductors to chinese electric power transformation substations. They need alot of these conductors in order to push their - still weakly - infrastructure in regard to country-wide electrification. (Olympic games in Peking soon)
Since the chinese currency is still rather weak and this is a mass-business with priority to quantity (but they also want to have the german quality) we have to do many overtimes for lesser wages. We are receiving ca. 60 Euros (approx. 95 US$) per conductor and producing approx. 150 conductors per day. Since power (oil, fuel, electricity) is very expensive in Germany (as it is in the U.S. as well but even more expensive over here), we?re paying much more than 60 Euros per produced conductor. Additionally we have to keep the wanted high quality, which involves more expensive work-time of german skilled labors. So you can imagine, that we don?t earn what we deserve to earn. We have to do the impossible splits (balancing act) between quantity and quality. It is a minus (-) - business but due to the huge quantity of the order still a profitable business. (don?t ask me how, it?s very complicated)
Well, we have to pay the prize. Our standard of living gets lowered this way. I guess, you experience very similar happenings over in the U.S.
This grinds my gears currently most. I don?t blame or hate the chinese. I do blame the western politicians and high decorated business men/- managers from the past and today for their blind stupidity and I ask myself if it will ever change again and when.
(probably when the olympic games in Peking are over ?) j/k
dont get me wrong...but someone will and flame on
my family came from england in the 3rd gen born here in the states...the other half of me is native american and french/english.....
but i am a american.... having said that i feel we are to pride happy ...yes i dont like illeagle imigrants taking my tax dollars but can we stop it ...with out them our farming would come to a stop (no hard working american would pick straw berries for a few cents a pound but they do).
and the flag is special but i have my familys coat of arms from the UK displayed in my home .
we have a very very high horse in this counrty ...and it makes me laugh if that was the case when my great grandparents came here i doubt i would be born or living in this country
the only true americans are the native ones the rest are imports just like all of our oil much of our food and most of our cars tv's and lets face it everything is made in china
we are a melting pot and some how the "americans" forgot this in the last 30 to 40 years

Tulla
I remember when products you would buy in america said made in america.
I remember when german engineering stood for pride in workmanship, and quality.
Now all we see is made in China or japan, and the quality is way down.
Factory's that used to be in the US are now in China and Japan
because it's much cheaper to produce things there.
Low wages and child labor have taken our jobs overseas.
I know !!! stop all Imports.....
:lol::lol:
Well I can dream.

Just what I thought. Very similar situations here and over there. Additionally our welfare system and pension scheme, got damaged by letting more and more emigrants into our country, who never paid a single cent into the welfare system but taking alot out of the big pot. (but I wouldn?t have racist thoughts because of that. I feel rather as I?ve explained above already).
Well and our pension scheme is damaged because we all had to work more and longer and more and longer and therefore hadn?t the time to think about children/ next generations. We hadn?t the time to educate them, so each family has approx. only 1 child who has to work for our pensions. In a few Germany has 2 third retired persons and only 1 third workers paying their part into the pension scheme......
Germany is dying out......
P.S. and now guess which business is the most promising in Germany....
......elderly care nurses and residential homes for the elderly

I can see so many valid points made by all.
I lived in Az and saw many many illegal immigrants pass by
my customer service desk at the bank I was working in.
As poor as they were at speaking english (a big issue with me)
they were no where near as rude as the American's. None of them ever
called me a B***** (or other choice words) nor did they use their steel toed
shoe to break the main bank glass door! My fellow american's did this and more!
When I needed help, moving or whatever, I could go (with a friend) and find a worker
willing to work for what I could pay (a fair wage for unskilled IMO of $10
an hour). Now I'm in Indiana, and it would cost me at least $25 an hour for
anyone to even cut down or pull out some bushes! Last year it cost me over $1100.00
to have my grass mowed 2x's a month for 4 months, which took them about a half hour ($45 ea).
Just grass, no leaves, no trimming,no nothing but grass cutting on a rider. Of course this
service didn't provide their workers with insurance or pensions to justify the added expense.
I can't afford that, so now I do my own thing, and what I can't do doesn't get done. I feel we both lose.
If a green card means you pay taxes and in turn contribute, (covering the health care costs these
people are getting for free only 1 issue) why not get more people signed up instead of sending them "home" only
to have them return next week???
On the other hand, I hate the fact that any of our food is imported!
Chicken from China - scarry! If the food is out of season, buy it canned or frozen!
We aren't perfect but at least we have some over-site of our processing etc.
Also, when we produce so much food, why should our dollars go to imported food?
That is really a place where we should be informed "grown and processed in America".
Is there something we can't grow here? Hard to believe it can't be grown anywhere, even
if it's outside the continental US. (Hawaii - Puerto Rico even).
Manufactured goods. I'm afraid we won't "make" anything here soon. A plastics plant just
folded after 40 years in business. Anyone out there think the demand for plastic has gone down?
Not in my experience. Yet, when I had a fence installed, I couldn't afford the quadruple price of
"plastic made from recycled materials" fencing I would have liked. Why does it have to be so
much more expensive than chain link, which also lasts 20+ years??? (I'm only guessing composite
fencing is made here in the US).
And selling the technology for China et al to be able to make quality goods for next to nothing by
using prisoners and children in the plants. That sale had to provide a profit for someone, just as it
surely caused xx employees in the US to lose their jobs. Are there no ramifications for this kind of
undermining of our country? Nope! The same old "the rich get richer" - and what trickles down is
pretty stinky!
I don't believe we should provide for everyone who could and should be working. What do you do
when you are over 50 and have retrained 3 times already and still can't get a job (now you're over-
qualified) and don't believe there isn't age discrimination! The only jobs out there are : stand on your
feet for 8 hours a day, work all kinds of odd shifts, get no pension or health insurance, behave like a
robot, and get paid so little you can't afford to live (6.50). All the incentive checks in the world aren't gonna fix
this. Could someone that age work doing instructions for products? Sure, but those are being outsourced to company's whose workers can barely comprehend or write in English (put tab A into the slot
???
We have laws for everything, from smoking bans to how high your grass can be, what kind of vehicle you can park
in your own driveway, if you can legally put up a fence: the list goes on and on! Yet we allow companies to
export all our jobs to other countries and acquire small companies for the express purpose of closing them down for a tax write off and kicking more people to the curb.
All this grinds my gears!
