I'm replying to a topic in the 'Great Hall" where I submitted a request for an item to be added to the agenda: RE Forum Protocols and Moderation. http://forum.tidesofwar.net/index.php?showtopic=9250

I did not want to answer checkmates post in public as it might not appear to be a discussion in that area, but more of an argument .. which it is not.

So I post here ...
After all Tbar it's not the Forum Mod. that determines this, it's you and you must step back and let nature take it's course or it will not work.
I don't' determine those things .. its the BoD that does and the current "forum protocol" adopted by the BoD. I follow the rules as everyone else does, I hope. I agree with what you say in spirit, but some would think you are implying that I tood liberties or actions that I did not.

When I reference "common sense" it is in reference to the BoD thinking that Common Sense was the rule for moderation, it is evident to me what one person applies as commonsense .. another does not. This is a BoD decision, and thus I submit the agenda item.

When a topic/post is removed, the common sense thing in my mind is to inform the party as to why. Apparently some actions were taken where the party of the topic/post was not informed as to 'why' and said party assumed it was me. This I do NOT know as fact, but the parties say they were not informed and demand answers from me. Since I know nothing of the action .. I can't answer them.

I did not remove any pic's or images from any thread ... someone else did as they ruled those pic's as over the line. The posters common sense.. and the moderators common sense did not jell... There are those that think I removed those pic and have given me a piece of their mind over same.. but I did not do it and they insist that I did.

I did not remove any post made by Inferno called "Sails". In fact I never saw that post.. ever. Yet someone removed the post for common sense rules .. that again did not match up to what Inferno felt was common sense. Yet there are those that think I removed said post and insist that I did. Fact is, I can find NO evidence said post ever existed and I hunted thru every log for 4 hours looking for it. MY Word of Honor.. I did not remove any such post titled even close to "Sails"

I was charged with 're-organizing' the forums several BoD meeting back, I never had the time to do so. I recently took advantage of some time and started to do just that.. reorganize them.. but the timing was bad and coincided with some posting issues that appeared bad to the public but was in fact nothing more than reorganizing. This I regret, but the deed was done, bad timing. I'll wait on the re-organizing till the BoD meeting.

I do as instructed by the BoD. I don't make up my own rules.

I can, and have no problem as you say .. stepping back and watching. I am part of the moderation team and simply doing what the mandate calls for. Some post have been removed that I would not have removed, and some posts remain that I would have removed.

One of my own posts was removed .. removed for 'across the pond issues/politics'. I felt the post should not have been removed but respected the decision of the party that did so. I made no public stink about it but did say to Kid privately I thought it should not have been removed. Thus the real reason for the agenda to include a discussion on forums, post etc . what we can post and what we can't. Common Sense did NOT apply to removing my post, and it was not against the Forum Protocol .. but I respected the decision regardless and felt it was an area the BoD should decide, not one individual.
... you must step back and let nature take it's course or it will not work.
I feel I have done this for a very long time .. and will strive to do so continually. I feel very strongly about the "community voice" via the BoD. Majority rules .. and what ever rules are established .. I intend to follow them to the best of my ability. I am a team player, not a team wrecker. My intentions .. although maybe mis-understood at times.. are always in the best interest of the BoD and Community itself. When things don't go my way .. I don't quit, I simply comply. I have an opinion like anyone else, unlike some I'm not afraid to post my opinion as you well know :)
