Proposal: USAAC Rookie Training Program

Proposal: USAAC Rookie Training Program

Rookie Team Name: USAA

I have spoken to a representative of every current USAAC Squad. I have gone over the proposal in detail, etc ..so little really needs to be said here and I'll present this proposal in brief

Proposal:

Creation of a formal .. sponsored ..sanctioned rookie training program by the BoD for the USAAC community.

Purpose:

Accommodate/train USA based rookie pilots in a proper time zone (although any pilot for any country would also be welcomed)

Teach ... from CoC to advanced flying.. anything and everything about AA

Structured training program to run a course of say 2 months... with 'earned' wings and graduation papers.

Opportunity for rookies to fly as a 'squad' and get exposed to the various squads, leaders, the USAAC, etc.

Expose all USAAC Squads to new pilots and give them a role in the process as "instructors".

Establishes a semi-farm team and possible 'draft' system for graduating pilots (nothing is forced however).

To retain pilots in the game, to possibly increase interest in the game , and + + + more.

Politics

None on this side of the pond that we or I are aware of.

UKAA .. possible problem with 'politics and criticisms'. The plan is to ask our Director to appoint a representative appropriate for the task to visit with Wiz and review the program with him for objection or possible problems in advance and BEFORE we go forward. Hopefully Wiz will approve of the idea and endorse it. We can of course do as we please within the USAAC and do not need anyones approval outside the USAAC. However the process explained here in no harm .. and respectful of all that Wiz has put into the current 'Rooks' program. Our program is not meant to replace the Rooks program, but only to help accommodate USA based timezone pilots .. and to enhance the overall program by having our squads as "instructors".

GE .. none known and they probably don't care one way or the other. Kid can follow up in that area.

==========================================

I am requesting this matter be put on the next BoD meeting. However, before that meeting ..lets us as a group .. hammer this out here in this forum and make sure we are all on the same page.

*I* .. cannot be the lead on this project. I can certainly help get it off the ground, but I feel we have good people in the USAAC Squads that are more qualified than I am to be a lead in this area.

I liked the idea proposed by Tbar, we have talked about it and it sounds like a good idea. I do talk with some of the [rooks] pilots from time to time and there main complaint is finding a guide to teach them anything. About the only one's who are doing anything is Wiz and Birdy. These rooks are wanting to learn and they sometime feel picked on and leave the game.

If we want to get more player in the game to stay, we need to give them a leg up from the start.
