I have just read the thread you mentioned.
I must say that the things you say are indeed insulting even though it was not intended as you say.
I am a member of the USAAC as the representative of USHA squad. So in short you have included pilots like myself in your statements. I have been to most of those meetings in the last 6 months or more. There are people associated with this who genuinely are concerned with keeping the game running smoothly and coming up with solutions and suggestions to percieved problems and issues.
I have not experienced a power struggle or other things that have been mentioned in the UK thread.
I dont believe your statement that the UK and GE communities dont accept the idea of the USAAC. I have never heard a whisper of that. As far as I know they believe it is a good idea. Perhaps I am wrong but believe it to be the truth.
I have had the pleasure of sitting in a USAAC meeting with Deleriux present. I hope his experience in the USAAC meeting was positive and would provide feedback on his view of what we are trying to do.
Deleriux would you like to comment on the general idea of what we are trying to do?
And I m not sure what you mean by turning this thing around? Is it going in the wrong direction? Was there an incident that leads you and others that it is going the wrong way?
I am confused at some of the anomosity that the thread has generated.
I am also disapointed at some of the US responses ( as well as UK ) in that thread.
USAAC as a whole is out for the good of the game. It is not looking to take over anything as one of the US posters has stated probably out of frustration. If that indeed in the future does start to happen I personally will not be associated with the organization.
The idea of having a CLP community does sound like a good idea as another poster has suggested. I wouldnt mind having one place for all pilots to communicate!
your post definitely sounds like you have had a negative experience with the USAAC. The group as a whole is concerned with the game and its continued success and keeping it as friendly for all as possible.
We bring up ideas, discuss them, decide to give it a shot or shitcan the idea and move on. The meeting is open for all to listen to.
This is all time we put into the game for free. I am a little surpised actually at the resentment of the US community as a whole.
I must of missed something the last few years.
The game is fun. All this other Boo Us and Boo UK stuff is bumming me out. It sad to see it.
Well you all might laugh and have a giggle at the procedure which to be fair is beauraucratic.
But let me assure you that more actually gets arranged - and more importantly - committed to by the USAAC than any of the other clubs.
Things DO get talked about and arranged in these discussion. And even more things get DONE in these meetings.
Maybe they have drafted too much organisation in it but at least its organized
.

Perhaps too much procedure. I think most of the procedure is put in place to keep the meetings and topics moving. Also to have some sort of structure and process to bring issues to the table, discuss them, then come up with a solution or work towards one. Anybody can bring an issue to the table but one of the main ideas is not to enable or give tools to those who want to be disruptive, have cursing and personal attack moments etc. We only meet for an hour every few weeks so having a structure in place I believe helps keep the ball rolling to our objective.
( AND EVERYBODY CAN ATTEND AND SPEAK AT THE OPPURTUNE TIME!!! )
I am happy to be a part of the meetings so far.
I find that listening to ones voice on TS probably is more personable than just posting alone. You really cant tell how a person is saying something in posts. Something meant as funny could be taken as an attack. I wonder if in the future we can integrate all the communities into a TS meeting setting?
Hmm, next agenda topic for " The Grand Hall". Multinational Integration.
And who made the name Grand Hall anyway?? Ive seen it a hundred times but never really thought twice about it.
Whoever thought it up is a Pompous AR$E !!! hehe TBAR.
I felt a great need to post something here so I settled into my chair pulled out my dictionary, my thesaurus and the book of witty quotations. After a half hour I had penned an immaculately phrased response which would have received unqualified praise from my old English professor. It was so inspiring that I read it six times with tears in my eyes before finally deleting it. I decided that the best thing I could say is; I agree with Inferno.
Just one thing though before I go...please don't let this develop into an international slanging match. If you do I'm going to have to drop my role as "the voice of reason" and tell you all to find a place where you can commit anatomically impossible acts upon yourselves. In other words I'm sick and tired of all this bickering.

Thats what I like seeing. Good response from people who understand whats actually happening here in the USAAC.
Thanks Fern, Del, and Aegle, (Aegle its really nice to see you flying again!)
I'm not much of a diplomat. Perhaps, I was a little loud. Perhaps what I said wasn't perceived it the manner that I meant it to be.
The point being that I post our meeting banner for all pilots to see so that they will be aware that they are welcome to come voice any concerns they may have about the game of AA. If there was a way for just US based pilots to see it, I would still post it so the entire AA community can see it. We are not here to take over anything, we just want the game to progress in a positive manner in which it is fun for ALL PEOPLE. You can laugh at the way we do things, but it works, not perfect and there is always room for improvement.
I believe that the who reason for this outburst of insanity, most likely has nothing to do with the USAAC at all and probably more pointed in the direction of one man who saw a need for something and went to work on a solution that just happened to become the USAAC. He put a lot of his own money and long hours and with the help of a lot of people, trying to give the pilots here in the US a place to reside. I think that this made some people jealous, and when that happens all they can do is to condemn anything he does. The man can't even make a simple post with out someone saying something spiteful. Well shame on you!
I'm happy to be associated with him as a friend and a squad mate. We don't always see eye to eye on things, but we get it worked out some how and it works out for the better.
In addition, I'm proud to be associated with the USAAC. I think we now have a very nice place for people to come here and voice there concerns and opinions. A good place to just come and hang out and find and make new friends. I also travel around and visit other places and read other forums. I am registered on 3 different communities. The first one just happened to be the UKAAC!

These meetings are held at 9pm.. guessing that's 9pm US time which would be 2 or 3 am uk time +1hr for the rest of Europe. Not very sociable hours for us old farts who need our beauty sleep
Nemo's point is relevant, valid and, this time, respectful. Change the time. It's called compromise and it's a very useful tool in international relationships
I think its great that we all have our own comunity forums
I also think its very interesting the different ways that the three communities do things
but they are all striving to get to the same place on the Map
That point is the good of AA and to have arenas that are full of players enjoying themselves
so on closing keep up the good work

If Del can stay up late for a meeting, so can the rest of them. Having met Nemo in person, he should go to bed because he definitely does need his beauty sleep.
The time of the meetings was set to allow the most US people to attend. To change the time would defeat this. If someone would like the time changed, contact Joker, have it put on the agenda, and it will be discussed at the next meeting.
Inferno and Joker, great posts, well put.
Del and Wiz, thanks for the kind words.
j69o, I have no problem with you. You are a bit misinformed, or confused, about the past. I got my panties in a twist because of the DBE comment made by a UK Sysop, and former UK Club Captain. At the time I thought that comment was way out of line, and I still do. Since the UK Sysop made no attempt to address my concern, I can only assume he meant what he said.
