First I want to thank the pilots that showed up for yesterday's match: Tbar, Zarn, Talon, Burton, Hollywood, and Myself.

We put up a real good fight and they knew they where going to. TKFM put up 7 pilots against our 6 and we took the battle to all parts of the map. They did however put on a pin in the first half which lasted for a few minutes, but we had a couple of pilots break away and TKFM pursued, which allowed the rest of us to get up and off the ground.

In the first half we did have some problems. We still seem to be having problems on take off crashes. This should not be happening. We need to work on this. Also, we are still having some people not wanting to communicate. We need to communicate EFFECTIVELY and it needs to be accurate and short.

Ok, thats it for now. Below you will find the official scoring from yesterdays match. Let's get over this one and prepare for the next match.

Hi,

First half was a good effort, for a time I felt we took it to them. Second half was grim, once they had the pin they executed it very well....

So, Burton's Bin Thinking....... We are getting better, and some good training sessions are taking place... So looking ahead...

We needs a strategy for breaking pins... Yes yes I can hear you all groan "no s--- Shirlock !"... did I tell you about my Masters Degree in "Stating the bleeding obvious" :D. You may have discussed or practised this before I joined... But I confess in that second half a couple of times I found myself above the NME with 5 spits circling the runway below - and I ran out of idea's. First time, I gallantly tore into them, silk scraf flapping in the wind, Tchaikovsky blasting out of my Bakelite iPOD ... French Waitress on my hip .... <ahem> sorry getting carried away .... anyway a few hits on one GE then I am through them - no one falling for it and following me down ... and blammo I am bleedin pinned again !!

Second time ... cos I learn fast, did I mention my Masters Degree in "learning bally quick"... I was above them again so I thought ( although not hard enough as it tuned out ) I would dive in a more controlled maner and try engaging by joining them at 8k and inducing a turn fight. Bally good Idea I thought... there I was chuckling to myself "feck me Burton but you're good, this will show em, ooh yes PAYBACK TIME .... .... s--- s--- where did he...... ..... GK"

So - Burton's Bin Thinking HARD. Can I invite us all to propose a strategy for breaking pins, doesn't matter how wacky lets get some idea's flowing... Here's mine to start things off...

If we can get one or two chaps away and up above the pin. Rem pinners tend to hover between 4-6k so they can dive in nail you when you get above 1.5k, since bullets travel ~2k then escape with no AA damage. So if we can get above em - with good comms - we schedule a mass break out with the pinned pilots all heading in the same direction, when the pinners engage - our high guys similarly engage descending on a target rich environment of target fixated NME's... strikes me a few positives can happen ...

1. Some pilots escape the pin, woot woot.

2. We kill and damage the pinners, woot woot.

3. Some variation of the two.

All of which is a shed load better than anything I achieved agains last nights pin.

I guess there is a 4th option ....

4. We all get nailed and Burton needs to Think HARDER !! But hey have I mentioned my Masters Degree in "Eternal Optimism"....

Bravo Burton, Good post.

Here's my pin breaking strategy. Usually when I see planes above. I will stay low and fast and get as far away form the base as I can before getting alt. Sometimes, one or two and even more of the enemy plane will follow, but sometime none will follow. What I have done is to sacrifice my self to allow my squad some breathing room, sometime the it sometimes they just sit and watch. In a much nicer situation, the enemy did not follow me and let me up. in which I come back over my base with a much higher altitude and proceed to get there attention and once again get a kill or two and have them chase me. Once again, this will help relive some stress on our base.

Keep up the good thing Mr. Watson!

I agree,

I agree with the ideas..and we should practice those..

A idea ( which is probably what u hav already done ) to buy us some time while being pinned and possibly "Loosen" the pin and not "defeat" the pin. Is while we do circle the base still keep visuals but do the usual winging up and if someone dives on a wing then the other could damage it or even take it out. I did this in Teams with Hollywood and it worked well..Hollywood acted as bait and if they dived on me Hollywood could roll and attack. Then focus on the damaged pilot and get them running to the base or dead we can make a break for alt.

Pin Break solution number 2,

Something that I forgot to mention in my previous post was when I was on the SU base, I actually got a couple of kills by doing the following.

Checking the map I would note which directions the enemy planes where heading, if they are both heading in the opposite direction from my take off direction I would taxi fast. Here is what I do. Speed is everything in this maneuver. Some of you may no how to get your plane up to speed fast and some of you may not. This is what I do first I make sure that the flaps are down or in take off position. Put the throttle to 100% + wep if you have it. What you want to try and do is to get the gear up quick as soon as you see your plane starting to lift, then bring your flaps up. YOU DO NOT want to try to get alt. Stay low and gain speed. near the end of the runway hit you enemy lock. In all most every case you will have a plane getting ready to persue you. Pull up hard at the enemy plane you will climb pretty fast when you get into gun ranger start shooting. Try to make some hits or a kill and then head back to the deck fast. In just about every plane we use I can get it to 200 MPH or greater by the time we reach the end of the runway. Speed is the key. I learned this from Tbar doing this to me when we have practiced together.

Yesterday, My wingman, Hollywood was having some connection difficulties. I was wanting him to stay on my tail as we took off this way he could follow up and get the kill if I didn't. Unfortunately, he was not able to get in sinc with me. TopCat was so tired of me doing this to him that he would follow me back through the AA. That just gave us more point for our team. Don't you just love it!
