Beginner, In need of assistance.. If you have time?

#1
Good evening.

I am an extremely new pilot to IL-2 and I love it.. I'm very bad currently, but I love it all the same.

I struggle to find the training missions on the main menu. Image

I want to learn everything there is to know. I really enjoy online flight simulators.

If anyone has the time and would like to be kind enough to fill me in with the basics, I would be most greatful.

I haven't flown online as of yet. I feel I need more offline practice before hand.

Kind Regards,

Cold Hearted is one of those type people .. that when they commit to a game .. they learn every aspect .. every detail.

I can tell you Cold Hearted is one of the best pilots in the game of AA.. ever. He has leadership skills as well. He's well respected in another community.

Once Cold Hearted gets some air time in IL2.. he will be a handfull to challenge. He will be very good.

Cold Hearted,

You just might appreciate the ToW Group.. and the IL2 bunch. We have NOT established a flight group as yet.. but we have 6 noobs such as you and several 'experienced' pilots that will be the base formation for our new squad.

If you have plans on including the TS Squad members.. or even expanding TS into IL2.. that is great and can work well with ToW also.

A lot of folks don't really understand Tides of War or ToW .. you might be one of them .. drop by our Team Speak and talk with K9 or myself for some insight etc.. in any case .. your welcome here.. welcome to pick our brains and get all the info you can.

ToW nor the ToW Club is a clan .. or a squad. etc.. We are a CLUB of Like minded Adults. We do NOT dictate to our members what TAG they wear.. or what servers they play on .. or what Clans and Groups they can be a member of....

ToW and the ToW Club do have our own servers ...

Salute!!

Tbar

PS. Our Air Marshall is in the Royal Navy and is a heilo pilot. He plays IL2 as well .. he a Brit :)

training... Easy for starters:

you can shoot down what you can't hit.... learn to aim. How? easy.. get a feel for one particular type of aircaft and stick with it find it's limits. go into qmb (quick mission builder) select your plane and how you like it armed up. THEN take and load 100% fuel. heavy I know.. but think of it like leg weights while going about daily business. set up 4 ALLIED aircraft. depending on what theater of operations you want... select a6m5's ki' 84c, ki,61 for pto (pacific theater of operations) for eto (yeah you guessed.... european theater) select the 109's 190's as those are most common in hyperlobby. this is assuming you're flying an allied aircraft of course. once you have them set as friendly. NOTE: DON'T SET THEM ON YOUR WING USE THE BOTTOM THREE SETS OF FOUR. use the fact that they will continues on course as a means of lining up your shots. be careful and don't fall into the habit of zooming all the way on the gun sight, it lowers your awareness. practice bnz (boom and zoom) tactics, stay high ->alt = speed -> speed =life. once you can nail all 4 fairly easy.. add another 4.. then the next set ect.. the idea is to down all 12 or so planes before they land. NOW for lead shots and following. if you set some wingmen on your own flight, they SHOULD follow you (and again, not shoot back). This can help you learn basic evasion skills, maneuvering, and lead shots from most angles.

when you think you're ok with that... turn off the friendlies and set 2 enemy planes on a6m's on the normal difficulty. Don't be fooled. I really don't think that ace is the hardest setting.. veteran seems more relentless than ace does.....

I've been out of practice but I would set 4 on me and fight (yes with 100% fuel when practicing) and had a 75%-80% chance of winning.

let me know if you're interested in ground pounding. I can help with rocket/boming attacks. STILL trying to get kinks out of learning the bombsight for high alt... but I'll drop on a wamprat in begger's cannyon at full throttle :)

btw... what crate you like sitting in?

doing what little I can k-9

maybe I wasn't half bad about 6 months ago.. but untill last night.. hadn't touch a joystick and throttle for those 6 months. I can give basic pointers here and there... want to learn p-38 and I'll be more than happy to give you tactic ideas..

and as a bonus.. my 2 armements I use for p-38l_late:

Dogfight/ bomber escort= 2xdroptanks and as little fuel as i can get by with.

bombing/ ground pounding= 75% fuel, all the rockets and bombs it holds ( 3 second delay on bombs) ifn' i'mma firk it up... iwanna firk it up rpretty good.

I fly IL2 only and I am getting better slowly.

Firstly, you have come to the right place. Everyone in this club will be keen to help, as you can see. However, we do not have specicfic instructors. As you can see, advice is freely offered and we hope it helps.

As for instruction, there is an excelllent place.

www.joint-ops.com

Like tidesofwar, it is NOT a Squad. It is a school specifically for IL2.

It is outstanding, very freindly and free.

I have been learning from there coursezs for the last 2 years now and its excellent. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Just take a look at "year at a glance" from the home page to see how extensive it is. I am currently doing my 6th course which is AFS2 dealing with 2v2 tactics.

Please take a look. You will have a great time learning with them.

They are the tidesofwar recommended IL2 Flight Training School.
