Has anyone else found their AI allies spectacularly less than helpful? I've played two submarine missions for the LFN now where there are two other subs and the orders specifically say we are to work together, but the other two boats hardly bother! I wouldn't have minded having to tell them what to do, but they out-ranked me, so I couldn't even make them help; they just hung back in defensive postures while I fought single-handedly until overwhelmed by sheer numbers. This happened most recently in LFN sub mission 6, where I have to sink 6 (as I recall) oilers and tankers, part of a huge, heavily escorted convoy. The other two subs hung back, I sank all the targets save one, then got swarmed by DDs and CVs. I think it's not too much to ask for two other subs to go after one lousy remaining target!
I wish the AI either actually assisted, or that I had no allies at all. To be told to "work together" when I'm the only one doing any work is really quite frustrating!

While I've noticed they sink an occasional vessel, it's been my experience that they are not nearly so aggressive as a human player. About half the time, they don't even seem to get a shot in. I know they shouldn't be allowed to compete with the human player, but in my opinion, they should share a fairer portion of the burden in cooperative missions where you are facing a great number of escorted targets.

i would agree your allies appere to be very tame and shy of attaking other vessels where the enemy have no problem charging you and attaking with all wepons its only in surface V surface combat that allies help a lot DAMM COWERDS what would Lord Nelson think

I saw some great 'group' tactics from my ally DE's today in one of the US surface missions.

I have found that when faced with this sort of dilema, what is best to do is very quickly from start of mission is dissappear off the surface and let your allies draw the attention of the enemy first, this seems to occupy the enemy, okay not 100 percent but your side does seem to go into a drawn out state of cat and mouse with the enemy, taking a proportion of the heat off of you.
Either that or like I did once get a lucky spread off that hit five seperate ships with just one stick of six torpedoes
