Is it necessary to say "Good Kill" each and every time you are shot down? I say no, not at all and I won't.
What is a 'good kill' anyway?
Some say a 'good kill' is any kill. Well that is NOT my line of thinking at all. I don't have argument or problem with those that do think any kill is a good kill because in RL Pilot situations it is most likely true (barring a case where you strafe a school yard or shoot down a commercial airline). But then some would even argue that, I would not refute that line of thought in a real war situation. Given that AA is just a 'game', lets limit our conversation to that realm.
A good kill is when you have even chance and even situation in my book. This is the ONLY situation I will offer a "GK". Is it really necessary to say? Not in my book. That other pilot "knows" he just made a good kill and does NOT need me to tell him so. It is just NOT a problem. Sometimes I do say "good move" or "good job" when another pilot is deserving of that..
Why is it that some pilots insist you type "GK" and make a big deal of it? Do they have some NEED to hear it? Do they think they deserve a "GK" upon each and every kill? Do they feel that "GK" is politeness? Or do they just want to see some type of 'tradition' carried out? When a pilot makes a big deal about it on coms .. I feel they are just insecure and MUST hear it or they just have to have total public acknowledgement of his/her victory. Probably other reasons also, but I'm not a Couch Doctor.
It does not bother me one bit if another pilot does not say "GK" to me. In fact many times I respond I'm not deserving of a GK with similar too: "Tks, but you and I both know it was a cheap kill
I don't have a problem with those pilots that always say "GK" regardless. No problem at all. I have most of my macro keys tied up for Events, Ref and squad functions and I just don't have a one key stroke or time in most cases to type it. In my case I just have to concentrate very hard on what I'm doing and don't really have the skill to type and fly.
I would suggest, that by typing "GK" upon every death, what one is actually doing is making a really deserving good kill .... cheap. "GK" should be something really deserving and above the normal to me .. its not something to just hand out like trick-or-treat candy.
There are some that argue that saying "GK" is just politeness. I say if that is the case, then concentrate on those that spawn kill, runway, ESC, make rude and degrading remarks towards pilots or squads .. concentrate on projecting the concept of: "polite" and "nice" in those areas then maybe ..just maybe.. you can influence my line of thinking
I'm not the morals of AA, but I do have a voice and a choice of how I behave. This is all my opinion .. you have yours and the right to voice your thoughts.. and to behave as you choose.
