Announcement To All Players

Following long discussions, the guild and raid leaders have decided that it is time to establish a raiding guild. The primary motivation for this is that we have recently started to lose a lot of members, and there are a significant number we could expect to lose soon, whose primary interest is raiding the end-game in a mature, more disciplined environment.

We have therefore asked Asbach if he would be prepared to setup and lead such a guild, which he has agreed to do; The guild will be created this coming weekend, and will be called "Dark Venom". The purpose of this guild will be to make progression through end-game raiding, specifically to attract and maintain sufficient interest and regular attendance to be able to tackle the 25-man instances. In order to do this, the guild will not offer the previous all-inclusive access to tribes guild members that has been available previously; there will instead be a limited number of places available within the raid guild, but people will be expected to keep their raid attendance up to maintain their place, since it will provide priority for raid invites.

On creation, guild invites will initially be made to those who have raided longest and most regularly within tribes and who are interested in continuing raiding on a regular basis. It will of course be up to individuals as to whether they accept and wish to move to the raiding guild, or stay within their existing tribes guilds; note that priority to getting a place in the raids will however go to the raid guild members. Further invites will be made when appropriate once the initial take-up rate is known, and will eventually move to an application-based approach.

The intention initially is to maintain our current raid schedule across the creation of the new guild, and then expand to include regular runs to the 25-man instances. Dependent upon takeup, recent departures, and upcoming holidays, there may be a period of reduction from 2 to 1 (more frequent) Kara run for a period. Subject to required class-balancing, invites to raids will be made first to raiding guild members; remaining spaces will then be made available to all tribes members via the tribeschatter channel. Hopefully this will mean that we will continue unaltered for Kara, but be able to build interest and commitment for the larger instances.

For more details on the operation of the guild, please see the new guild website (under construction) wich will be uploaded very soon ,the adress will be stickied in this forum.

Big news indeed.

Some fast comments (i need to think this over bit more before making more in depth comments)....The matters i comment have probabaly been discussed thorougly in officer chat, but still might be worth to discuss them here too :)

Is it necessary to make a new guild? Couldn't an exclusive FI/SK/+others raid coalition/group do the same thing (Coalition could limited number of places available within the raid coalition with membership offered to those who have raided longest and most regularly within tribes and who are interested in continuing raiding on a regular basis. People would be expected to keep their raid attendance up to maintain their place, since it would provide priority for raid invites. Raid leader / officers would have the power to remove people from coalition if they dont attend enough or dont play 100% when raiding). Coalition could have a pasword protected channel for easier communication...

Making a coalition instead on new guild would make it easier to keep playing with long time friends in FI and also provide a bigger 'player pool' to make raids. Old 40 man raids needed a pool of 70-80 committed people to make them actually work. 25 mans will prob need pool of 40-45 to actually get needed amount of people and correct class balance.

Name of the new guild....ouch imo :P Maybe open this discussion again and take suggestions at forum :)

I personally would probably be interested in joinign the new guild/coalition, but the actual raid times will be crucial here. I can't usually play later than the current raid end times due to work constraints (except fridays and weekends :))

Regarding the "pool", we will still have access to the same number of members through the tribeschatter channel. The existing coalition guilds will continue to provide a home for alts, casual gamers and those who only raid occasionally.

Feral Instinct has always strived to be everything for everybody. Up to a point I think we've been pretty successful in that. Of late we've started to see a widening of the "ambition gap" which I hope this new structure will address.

You are right Bux and my comments were, as i said, quick first thoughts...

Making a more serious raid guild is most probably the best way to solve the current situation and the growing ambition gap that had been rather evident lately.... and yes i am very interested in joining the new guild when it is formed.. :) Different kinds of coalitions have their down sides and i have seen many disintegrate/fail due to mixed membership, communications and leadership probs. Making new guild is much more clear cut solution and makes committing to raiding easier.

P.S. I still dont like the name though. Too much 80's heavy metal band in it :D

all obvious pro's aside I still don't see the benefit of "guilding" for only one aspect of the game.

iow: you would have to be in a guild every moment you log on only to be able to play 2x 3hrs together every week.

Would like to see the next steps into creating this new guild..i.e. raiding times/commitment/invites/followers etc...

hope to read more soon.

OK .. I totally understand the idea of creating a new guild in that people have different possibilities and options and needs ... I know a lot of people just want to raid end game .. and that is fine. But there are those, like me, who really want to raid but cannot really through times constraints, do it on a religious basis.

I love raiding. I raided through MC and BWL on my other priest and was as committed as I could be. I was really looking forward to doing it with you guys .. but I dont see how I can feel right about applying to a raiding guild with my sort of life.

BUT .. i dont want to raid .. desperately :D

So .. i am in a dilemma !

I have made some good friends in FI and i love the spirit that you all have .. and that I have managed to be a part of up till now .. if everyone leaves to go to the raiding guild .. where does that leave the old guild ?

What I hope is, FI will continue to thrive and be a happier place than if we have a steady drain of people leaving to join other guilds. FI members may still be able to raid with the raiding guild, albeit only when there is availability (i.e. regular raiders will get priority).

We will still have tribeschatter to talk between FI and the raiding guild - I know this isn't ideal, but unless Blizz implement a better UI for channels its the best we can do.
