Time Zones.

I'm not one for converting all the times for everyone .. this is their responsibility. This is my thoughts. I always use GMT as a base .. then use: http://www.timezoneconverter.com/ to convert all times for EACH date .. so that DST or any time offset is always accounted for and so forth.

If I am going to convert things for folks like Knightmare kindly did.. I check each date and list the times as follows

GMT 23:00 Wash DC 00:00 London 00:00 Berlin 00:00 Sydney +1 day at 00:00

This 'times' thing is a common error I see constantly and always a lot of confusion it seems, that is why I use GMT as the base .. then convert the times by city and use the correct date on the Conversion link above.

To each his own ..

=============
Tbar, why should this be put in Staff? One i was never even told i had to sign up here to read/post the SNL results, nor do any WS have access to the 'staff' thing except Sal, and considering he's not the WS ref, that renders it pretty useless being in the staff forum, myself being the only ref from WS, but Ws-Phear is now becoming a ref once i train him next game!
I suggested staff because it takes one off of the real topic. Staff is the area where schedules are worked out. This is a public area where on the facts and final products are released. Any discussion .. but some should really be in staff.

To read about SNL results .. no problem .. exactly what it is here for.

To make comments about SNL .. exactly what the forum is here for :)

But, again.. Ref's and Assignments really should be where one would expect to find it ... as usaac staff. IMHO. So hense the suggestion..

WS has access to any area they desire .. if they are registered at USAAC and WS is. WS Co's and Xo's can have access to most areas. Just request it. WS was 'registered' here at the request of Sal, but there was never any further info given where we could list you on the squad directory.

Any Ref .. that needs access to the Ref's area at USAAC need only be approved by the USAAC Head Ref... and you got access.

USAAC is not years old, we are learning .. all of us .. and we don't always know the who's who of AA for every squad and situation. Please, simply request the access and the process will start where you can access said forums and areas (if desired).

Unless there is a policy at USAAC that I'm unaware of .. I see no reason Squad Co's Xo's and official cannot access appropriate areas. SNL is a USAAC sponsored event, and if you have official duties for SNL .. then you should have access to necessary areas.

You can also contact Sal for exception, or a simple request for access. USAAC is a CLUB and as such is governed by the USAAC Registered Squads and Members.

I am sorry you were not informed that you would have to register to post results, its possible someone meant to receive your report by email and then post for you .. I don't know. Far better that you make the report yourself I think .. As far as I know you don't have to register just to read post or results. Also, it is intended that results will be posted via Central Launch access .. this will probably happen quickly once result tables are issued to USAAC Webmaster.

Maybe I am incorrect, if so .. I'll hear about the corrective action to take and fix things up for you :)

Erm thats ignorant? I was the one that gave the timezone information to knightmare through Sal? We don't use GMT now. GMT will confuse any UK pilot. We don't use GMT times at all, whys that so hard to update? Those GMT times incorrect, where you put 8:30 EST thats 12:30GMT not 1:30am. Look at TAA site, i even gave Tullla the correct timezones also =)

Tbh, i have no need to reply to you, your only 'webmaster', i'll get Sal to edit the timezones, don't know who you think you are lol !

Noodles my slightly arrogant hero, you don?t need to give me the correct times, I?m aware of them. Ty anyway. :)

The times for last saturday SNL matches were entered wrong at the CLP because all american (and only american) clocks above the TAA banner are wrong by one hour and the one who entered the match-times (I guess TANK) compared the scheduled times with said clocks. So no wonder, all times were wrong. Thanks for heads up Noodles, so I was able to edit the timers a couple hours before start.

What me really wonders is: said clocks are wrong already, since we switched from wintertime (standard) to summertime (daylight saving time) in march (!!!). That means the clocks above TAA - banner and all american times displayed on the CLP for events and leagues were wrong all the time, since and noone lost only one word about it. Since the european clocks are running correct, noone of us noticed it. A shame.....

And sorry to correct you Noodles: GMT is indeed of interest, since the server clock of the CLP is running in GMT and therefore all times to be entered there for displaying a timer or arena, have to be GMT.

So at least the leaguemaster and the guy who enters the times for timer- and arena-display needs to know the GMT time.

If you do publish the GMT - time for the users (well, at the latest during winter, you have to publish GMT-times anyway), is up to you. But for the case it confuses the brits, because they don?t know if their current timezone is GMT or BST, I would let it be. 😵

The posting of times correctly is a problem that crops up far too often. My solution would be to post GMT times, and GMT only. After clicking the AA Launch button on the CLP, Your Local Time is displayed, alongside GMT. Your Local Time is also displayed in the Event Calender, alongside the countdown timer. From there anyone playing the game from anywhere in the world can tell what time the event starts.

An alternate solution would be to have Noodles fill out ALL the Event Calender forms and Arena forms, and post the correct times in ALL the forums. ;)

Dear Mr Noodles,

No Sir.. you don't have to answer to me at all. But please don't call me "just the webmaster" , I'm proud of our little USAAC site :) ... ::Salute::

.. and kind sir .. I am also the Fun Event Manager, and do closely work with the League Staff here at USAAC.

I know who I am, a USA Squad Leader and Member of the USAAC Mgmt Staff. If you, Mr Noodles, need something done fast at USAAC, .. I'm probably the man you would be sent to.

I don't take any offense to your response, I was merly trying to point out what "I do" as a squad leader with UK pilots on our squad. I recognize you are trying to make things "better", I do not respond in such as way as to be negative or paint you in ignorant light. I simply want to help out as you do for a better all around Air Attack Community, etc ..

The times being wrong has been pointed out before, I don't know why they were not changed but thank you for the input and we will make the corrections. :)

Knightmare,

I've updated your times/dates on the Fixture Table, BUT only across the TOP of the table for BASE times. Send me another table I'll post ASAP for you when you have addressed the times issue. Frankly I might take Tempers advise and simply post all times GMT. Any Squad leader can double check and convert the times from GMT to what presentation fits their squad best. Filling in all the times in native time image is a class act ... but time consuming :)

Noodles is correct for this time of year and the dates involved, you could simply use a straight up conversion for times as follows:

Anytime Base of Wash DC

-3.o hours for LA

+5.0 hours for London

+6.0 for Berlin

Just note that when you go past midnight, the date is + one day .. ie Sat is Sun.

I hope my input has added something constructive .. I think I'll 'butt out' of this conversation at this point :)

Respectfully,

Tbar

USAAC Staff

======================================================

FYI for anyone that is interested.

Here is how I do my conversions:

========================

Time: GMT 23:00 | LA 4PM | Wash DC 7PM | London+ 00:00 AM | Berlin+ 1 AM |

23:00:00 Saturday June 16, 2007 in GMT converts to:

16:00:00 Saturday June 16, 2007 in America/Los_Angeles

19:00:00 Saturday June 16, 2007 in US/Eastern

00:00:00 Sunday June 17, 2007 in Europe/London

01:00:00 Sunday June 17, 2007 in Europe/Berlin

23:00:00 Saturday June 23, 2007 in GMT converts to

16:00:00 Saturday June 23, 2007 in America/Los_Angeles 19:00:00 Saturday June 23, 2007 in US/Eastern

00:00:00 Sunday June 24, 2007 in Europe/London

01:00:00 Sunday June 24, 2007 in Europe/Berlin

The rest of the schedule I believe would be the same times for each date, I don't see any further time offset for the city/countries involved in those dates ranges. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Also per Mr Noodles
The times listen in the SNL Fixtures are wrong.... 8:30est time is not 1:30amGMT...
Via www.timeszoneconversions.com the following are the correct conversion times

08:30:00 p.m. Saturday July 21, 2007 in US/Eastern converts to

12:30:00 a.m. Sunday July 22, 2007 in Etc/GMT+0

01:30:00 a.m. Sunday July 22, 2007 in Europe/London

02:30:00 a.m. Sunday July 22, 2007 in Europe/Berlin

The posting of times correctly
If your in the winter time yes. We're in summer time. 1:30am GMT is not when our games our played. They are played at 12:30am GMT 1:30am BST. Don't understand why thats so hard to understand..
No no, it's summertime here too. ;)

Actually, there are 3 different start times for 3 different games, so 1:30am BST can't be correct for all three? :/

Anyhoo, why is the 3rd game backed off an hour?

Posted:

5:00 est 10:00 gmt 11:00 mest

6:15 est 11:15 gmt 12:15 mest

8:30 est 1:30 gmt 2:30 mest

Should be:

5pm est = 9GMT = 10pm bst = mest 11pm

6:15 est = 10:15GMT = 11:15 bst = mest 12:15am

8:30 est = 12:30gmt = 1:30am bst = mest 2:30am

Times are incorrect..... I'm using EST as you all seem to use that even though your actually EDT. EST is indded +5 for GMT. But thats when we're both in winter timezones.

Tbar,

You have way to many things to do than to argue times with people. I feel you should just post the GMT times and let the squad leaders figure out the proper times for their squads to be there and play.

Its all pretty simple if you ask me, and hell I'm a...
