The % Of A Dud Torpedo.

What is the average % of  firing a dud torpedo?
Dud torpedoes was a big problem in the beginning of WWII.

In a famous battle a german sub fired 11 duds at a merchant.

The 12'th torpedo worked however.

How realistic is Enigma in this case?

depends on your skill and luck
if you fire 1 torp and its aimed at target it will hit, unless it dodges under the ship...

or the target evades or you aimed wrong etc
I suggest an improvement to this as well, and maybe an realistic level for it.
None = all torps is working.

Allmost realistic = most torps works.

Realistic = uses realistic stats from WWII.

There is an interesting article about it at http://www.military.com/Content/MoreConten...file=PRtorpedo2

Jesper i think Red is meaning 'dud' as in torps that don't explode on impact.
Red, i think it was an American sub which fired at a Japanese tanker :) He fired 11 torps at it and even the sound guy heard some of them hit (and some passed under it) although the ones that hit NONE actualy exploded -only when the 12th was fired at the stern it exploded crippling the tanker. They couldn't finish it off as it had radioed in help and they had to leave quickly!

On the way back home, the sub commander then decided to fire 3 torps into a cove at a cliff to prove his theory of 'dud' torps; Out of the three, two exploded and the last one hit the cliff and sunk. They -at great risk- managed to put a line around one of the live duds and towed it back for analysis. There they found that the firing pin was too soft and was bending on impact at the nose of the torp and that they had been incorrectly calibrated to run something like 3ft deeper than what they thought? So the ones that hit the tanker had been bending their firing pins on glancing blows off the hull Remember the torpedoes back then cost $20,000 each, so testing was so LIMITED to the point that they were actualy useless and many lives were lost due to commanders getting closer and closer thinking their torps where missing.

EDIT: OOPS just noticed you had put up a link to it
I know what he meant, I just told him how the game works ;)
