Free Play In Multplayer?

This has probably been asked before, but beisde the 30 days free will there also be an option to play multiplayer free if you pilot a tanker/oiler like in Iron Wolves?

Talking of Oilers, is it possible to refuel your ship/sub if you pull up beside one and hand over your credit card?

Check the name on the side of the tanker - if it says "Argon", stick well clear!

Hmmm.. I'd have to agree. Iron Wolves was pretty cool in the fact you could play without paying. Although you only had access to half the ships, you could still sink a few people on your 56.k line!

And with Enigma having a lot more ships and abillities(such as customizable armory on boats), it wouldnt be too hard to let players take command of only a Corvette and a Tanker. This would make sure there are always a bountiful supply of escorts for tankers, and a lot of tankers for the escorts to escorts. Thus insuring paying fans of Enigma won't always have to take the boring missions because they need some cargo deployed on another continent or something!

Tankers, merchants and oilers in Enigma actually have guns too, so you wouldn't be as helpless as in IW.

What a great point....Just reading this thread made me think back to when I began first looking for a naval game and what a great concept to allow ALL people to be able to play in some limited form for free.Just playing for even a little while I was hooked and payed $20 a month,for years,like alot of other people did, not because of the "Pong Like" graphics ,but for the Fri/Sat nite attack runs in a DD looking for prey. and talking to good people from all over the globe. We will definitely support free play. "The first one is free" applies to all addicting substances. We think Enigma will qualify.

"first-one's free" as in, Iron Wolves style Tankers, or as in the standard 7/14/30 day free trial that comes with most MMO games these days.

Either would be cool, since the former would allow for community expansion and such, and the latter would allow for community expansion and such, just in a different way.

Perfect sense.

Iron Wolves was a real beauty due to the freedom of allowing new players play the game without fear of paying. No "One week and you're out" stuff. If you wanted to just kick back and have a good time, you could still have the lower-end ships at your disposal.

Although economically, the best solution is to give players only a week or two of play-time and then demand that they pay, I'd love to see something similiar to Iron Wolves.

Haha, I got it. Players who dont pay, can only earn prestige points to purchase (a selected group of) ships if they do runs with a tanker. Make'em work for their guns! hehe:
