Sub Ai Surfacing Too Often And Easily

Why do enemy sub AIs surface when the player's surface vessel's guns are still within range and the sub does not have low battery/air problems?

Why do enemy sub AIs surface (or bob up and down above/belwo surface) if they have taken a certain amount of damage when they can at least remain safer at periscope depth or deeper.

I could understand this happening if the game allowed specific damage to dive planes, not allowing the sub to retain a fixed depth or if they needed to surface because of poor air quality from smoke and flames.

Otherwise, this is just making life easy for the player but it seems very unrealistic. Of course, the AI surrendering would be an interesting option, too, in the future.

often when you see them peek the nose above water it is cause thy blew ballast to get up fast to fire a suprise spread on you.
If you mind your distance a bit, they will sometimes come up and go down every 10-20 seconds or so, giving you ample opportunity to hit them with your main gun.

And they're often not even facing you while they continue to do this.

Yes, I've encountered the quick surfing sub that has fired right at me a moment after surfacing. Very nasty. 😵 But more often than not, it's blatantly disadvantagious to the sub, not to the player.

I think a bit of tuning is needed in this area.

No he means that constant bobbing. They'll pop up for a second, go under for a second, pop up for a second, etc etc etc. Very frustrating trying to get a shot on them before they duck back down, because they'll pop back up as you're reloading, then pop back down as you shoot. bash:
Nothing frustrating at all.

If I've give my ship's AI gunners the fire orders, they usually hit the conning tower and eventually sink the sub.

I don't want the sub to be on the surface longer - it's too easy already! Just the opposite, the sub should never bob above the surface under these circumstances. It's suicidal. 😨

Generally if you see that happening, it's because they are out of air
They can replenish air fast enough not to have to repeat surfacing so many times, right? So this doesn't make sense.
or battery and the need to recharge
Again, this can happen rather early on in a mission. I'm assuming you don't start missions with the AI subs batteries set to low in advance.
