What If Usa Did Join In Ww1 At The Begining?

I am currently reading " The Great War at sea 1914-1918 by Richard Hough"

it is a very good book and thouhgt would the sea battle be any different if we had our battleships and desstroyers and other ship in like battle of Cornel and falklands and Juntland, I wondre if the battles would have turnes out any differnt? Would our Battleships have been any more effective aginst Germans Drednaights battle crusiers and others? I belevue out gunned the gremans? I would like to hear peoples thought.

Interesting thought but the answer is no there would have been no changes for the simple fact that when the US joined the War the only ships to see any action were the USN destroyers in the convoys. The reason for this is that the powers that be in the US decided that the US Navy would be used as a defensive force and only used against a direct threat to the shores of The US.

Given that of all most of the Major Navies of the world at the start of WW1 ,which were British, Gereman, Japanese and US ( I dont count Turkey and Russian as they spent the war trying to get at each other), were on the same side, and the Germans were bottled up by the British Blockade. there was little chance of the USN sending out many ships. Besides Coronel and the Falklands were essentially the same campaign against two Ships the Scharnhorst and her sister ship which I can never spell so i wont try, and they were making a dash for Germany. but were brought down by the RN. I dont think that there would have been any US intervention. As to jutland there would have possibly been a few US Destroyers but thats about it so they would not have been a decisive force. Oh amd I doubt that the US would have been dumb enough to commit ships or men to the Dardinelles disaster.
