I see a lot of reads for this topic but no responses...I can't imagine why.

Pioneer's PLan of Attack

The "geek" within me is weak, so excuse me if I don't have the right terminology.

I've never run amy own game server before, however, the good people of Tides have had a machine. When MP comes out - either in the massive format or the 10-20 people per "map war" I plan on using the Tides server as my house.

Alternatively, if I had to run it from my own machines, I would do what I could, to make sure I could run a part of the Enigma game.

Side issue: wouldn't it be great in Enimgma MP if I were to host/maintain my own section of the war. People who come to the game and jump between various locations would then be fighting (for example: the English Channel and environs) on my server!

I voted "I may but I have never run a game server before" as the closest choice to "I can run an Enigma server? Let me get someone on the phone to help me set this up?"

Tides of War would definatly run 1 or more MMORPG servers, Also I would personally run some off various datacenters, if an income can cover the expenses.

So I voted "As many as....." a few days ago.

@Pioneer, I dont think you will be capable of running a MMORPG server from your home, the 'lite'/tcp/ip MP you may be able to.

Might give a go, of course I'd have to find a copy maybe, just to see how these "old salts" live up to thier claims from Iorn Wolves. Of course watching da goose sink to da bottom in his beloved DD by certain submariners (Pio, floatsom,tbar....the entire smurf navy, just to name a few.) would be fun too!

Will it be a server we have to pay for, or will the game give us the option to "Play" or "host"?

If it is the latter, then I could host from my home machine.

I have hosted several other MP games, and my system does it pretty well. I have a 3mb down/256k up connection. That is the fastest that is available in my area for now on a residential cable line.
