Sometimes the voice recognition system does not understund me, that means I have to observe the gauges to make sure my orders vill be complied.
I suggest that there is an optional XO that allways confirm my orders.
Something like;
I say "Course 1-8-3".
XO repeats "Aye sir. Setiing course 1-8-3".
And when the desired course/depht/rudder..... and so on is reached, XO should report that, like "Captain, depth is 90 meters".
In the real world the subs uses a snorkel to ventilate the air and recharge the batteries while in periscope depth.
This must absolutely be implemented!
And finally - are the tubes flooded and the port/stern hatches open all the time?
It takes some time to flood and open the hatch. I suggest there is a slight delay when entering battle mode at the first time.

I think the voice confirmation is a good thing. Then I am able concentrate on firing at airplaines and so on, without have to verify my orders in the text area.
This should of course be an optional feature, others might find the XO annoying.
There was a brief discussion on schnorkel/snorkels earlier in the year. Here is the definitive answer from East posted on April 21st.Good hunting.
Schnorkel research in the German Navy didn't begin until 1938 with the O19 and O20. It is a Dutch invention. German U-Boats weren't fitted with the device until 1943 with the U58 being the first boat to undergo extensive trials. By June 1944 only 1/2 the Uboats stationed in France sported the Schnorkel and only the XXI and XXIII types were designed with a schnorkel. Type VII and IX classes were a retro-fit. We will be retro-fitting the VII and IX, but not for a little while still. Enigma singleplayer takes place in 1937.
