Guild Alliance

Some time ago we made an alliance with Feral Instinct (FI), thats where we got our forums and teamspeak options.

Guild merges are messy and unpredicatble. Neither of us want to lose our identity but (at the time) we where small and unable to get good groups, having to suffice with crappy pug's (pick up group's). Hence this alliance was born in order to compete with the larger guilds with more high lvls.

At our present day numbers I'd take an educated guess that we have as many, together, 60's as any high level guild (see http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php?s...&servertypeid=1 ) . I'm hoping to extend this alliance to a few more exclusivly selected guilds, ones we know to be good and honourable. This will allow for a free flow of inter alliance groups with good players, nice people and preferentional loot rules (so you get the items you need).

This can only be obtained through support of this venture. In order to do this please do the following:

1. Whilst in game type /join tidesofwar . This is a shared channel between us and feral instinct that allows the both guilds to communicate with each other, a shared /g chat if you will. Try spamming this channel first for groups before asking for a pug, if no one in the guild is available. It may be a good idea to say somthign like " LFG LFG" before you type until we figure out how to change the colour of it.

2. Tidesofwar have kindly provided us with a server for Teamspeak. the Death Angels channel can hold a max of 100 people. We may be able to get this sub divided into 40 member channel and a few smaller 5 man 10 man and 15 man so we arnt cluttering up the channel ( so multiple ppl can use it at the same time in different places i.e 5 man brd grp have their own sub channel, another grp of guildies in BG have theirs too)

If you want to avial of this resource, to talk or just listen in follow the instructions that rotten/wigdar are gonna provide to get it cus I can't remember

We've got an idealised guild with fantasticly skilled ppl, really nice and generous peeps, so lets make the most of it...

Teamspeak can be downloaded at the Teamspeak website. It is a little application that you have to install. After installing it you have to start it seperate from WoW. It also runs seperate from WoW. In fact it has nothing to do with WoW but is a general application used by people on many MMORPG's to ease the communication on raids. It's always faster to shout PATROL then it is to type it

After you started the application you have to select the 'connection' menu and then 'connect'.

You then enter a name in label(only used for recognition if you have mu;tiple channels). You have to enter 'tidesofwar.net' in the 'Server Address' field and your own nickname in the 'Nickname' field. Then you click connect.

You then enter the waiting room of teamspeak. You see there a lot of channels. You have to select our channel then which offcourse is 'Death Angels' which is almost at the bottom.

Now you are ready to use teamspeak and you can see other users that are online. If there are more you can start to speak

I remember having some problems getting the sound right. You can change some options under 'Settings'.

One important setting is found under 'Settings' and then 'sound imput/output' settings. It would be wise to set 'Voice Send Method' to a key, since the default is 'Voice activation' so every fart you make gets send to the others Enable the option 'Push to talk' and click the 'set' button. You then have the push the button you want to use to start sending your talks. I use the right-ctrl key for this.

Other options can be set under 'Settings' --> 'Options'. But don't know anymore what i have changed here and what was default.

It might be wise to change settings when someone else is online too, so you can test around a bit. If you have any problems just ask ingame if someone can come online (like Bratac, Turth or me) to help you with the settings and to test it.

As for the tidesofwar ingame channel Turth mentioned, you can change it's color somewhere in the menu on the little baloon that also is used for emotes etc. It appears if you hover your chat window. It would be wise to change the color, since the default is white and doesn't get noticed easy.

It would be good to encourage Allied guilds to request a forum on Tidesofwar.net also, as it encourages folk to keep an eye on what their allied guilds are up to.

Good info in this - suggest copy, or pinned post on FI forum pointing here; "need to know" stuff for FI as well as DA. If it's possible/necessary to modify colour of chat channel, suggest adding explicit instructions for non-techy members (ideal would be setup which auto-joined and coloured the channel, if that were possible).

With this 3 guilds we should have enough ppl to do some nice ZG and MC runs

The members of these guilds know each other from Seikou raids in the past.

I also would like to get a new channel for this alliance to clean stuff up.

To join the channel we use for our guild alliance just type /join tidesofwar

The color of the channel (and every other) can be changed by right clicking your mouse button on the 'General' tab that apperas when you move your mouse over the chat box. When you right-click a tab several options come in a menu and one of them is 'channels'. If you move your mouse to that a little menu slides to the side in which all channels you are joined to appear. Behind every channel name is a little square box and when you click that the color box pops up and you can set the color.

The same menu can be used to (temporary) disable channels. I use this when i go to instances that need all your attention, like Zul Gurub or Molten Core. I always disable all channels (including guild channel) except the whisper, party and raid channels. This keeps your chat log a lot cleaner and helps in noticing things said for the raid.
