DOES THE V MEMORY NOT DEPEND ON THE RAM YOU HAVE ?

I MEAN DOES THE RAM NOT DETERMINE THE AMOUNT TO SET THE V MEMORY TO ?

IF ONE HAS THE RECOMMENDED MINIMUM OF 256 RAM ,, CAN THE V MEMORY BE SET TO 1024 ???

WHAT IF ONE HAS A LARGER RAM ?

(INCIDENTALLY , I DID PLAY ENIGMA ON A 128 RAM AND IT WAS OK ,, JUST A LITTLE STICKY SOMETIMES ..AND ONLY IN THE LAST CAMPAIGNS ..)

USUALLY THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF V MEMORY ( SAME AS CACHE ??) IS ONE AND A HALF TIMES THE RAM....

ANYONE KNOW EXACTLY ABOUT THIS ??

Virtual Ram, as the name implies, is not the same as regualr Ram. It uses a portition of your HD to store RAM data. The computer uses the Virutal RAM when you run out of Regular RAM. If you have a desktop computer, your HD is fast enough for you to not notice it's being used. In my case, I have a Laptop HD, which is slower to reduce power consumption, and as such whenever I run Virtual RAM the game slows down.

Took me about 4 times to do this mission... but after getting obliterated 3 times i tried this....

I didn't order any of my ships to do anything... I let the AI figure out what they should do... seemed the MTBs were focused on the BB... but they were all sunk rather quickly by the BB - navy fodder.

I merely ordered my ship to follow the Hood about 100m from its stern in line formation and protected it from aircraft. This seemed to work well as my AA along with the Hood's gave those Hun birds a good thrashing.

Well, as time went on and the birds were gone... I noticed that i had no more ships left to command... or more specifically, nothing was left floating except me, the Hood and the Prince Edward.

Now I made sure that the Hood was always closer to PE than I was so it would shoot her instead of me(got a medal for that it seems). Then i proceeded to fire torpedoes at the PE over and over until i had nothing left.

Eventually I split off from the Hood as I was beginning to draw fire and ran away " RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY ." My 5 inchers were always firing at her in AI mode but I left the command of the ship with my XO who maintained the course of "RUN AWAY" while I took command of the main guns. I popped quite a few rounds into the PE but nothing really seemed to have any effect.

All this time I was still drawing fire from the 15" guns and getting hit on the rare shot. Finally I got far enough away that the PE focused herself on the Hood and left me to lick my wounds with about 2% of my hull strength left.

So I sat out the rest of the fight staying about 10nm away. Had the lads dig out the rum and we all got frightfully drunk and totally forgot about the two BBs duking it out over the horizen.

Well, I jum fell off my horse when the radio message came through that the PE was sunk and I was a hero.
