It was OK, but they should have had more on the ship itself, and less on the events leading up to the sinking.

Yes, but it looked like besides what they told us, they really didn't know anything else. They had the armanent, shape of the bow, displacement, max speed... planes, even gave us a glance at the blueprints.

What more would you have liked to know?

maybe more footage of the wreck, or a computer model of how the wreck looks today. Maybe more detail of how the ship sank, as well.

-- also, doesn't it seem a bit strange for them to be taking shoes and bowls, etc. from a sunken warship?? It is a GRAVESITE.

I guess I would have liked to see some more of that, too.

Although they probably didn't have that much footage to show, and I'm guessing some of it wasn't even from the Yamato. They probably just found some footage of planes diving and figured it looked almost the same, so they stuck it in (I've got no problem with this, as long as they say something about it).

As for the computer model, I guess the 3D simulation is the best we're going to get. That was more "how it sunk" as opposed to placement on the ocean floor, though.

Yea, the shoes and bowls thing did seem kind of akward to me. They may have wanted to say something about the daily life on the boat or whether or not they had Adidas' back then... in... Japan....

Not having seen the programme I cant comment but i know that all wrecks of the Royal navy and of the German Navy are considered grave sites(those that are know to contain dead that is) and unless special permission is given no one is allowed to enter the wreck but people can swim around them and pick up debris.

I have to agree, and say this program was below par in comparison to others of the same type. It seemed to come across as being on more of a budget than the others, especially when they shook that photo to dramatize the torpedo impacts, and repeated showing certain photos. I also got the impression the segments that were filmed aboard the research vessel might also have been highlights from a Japanese program.

It would be interesting to know if this aired in a different, or perhaps extended, form in Japan.

Hey guys, I just got a 2 tape set of a program called "Warship" for my birthday (8-) ), and it is a VERY good show. It has the devolpment of big-gun ships, carriers, and subs all packed into it. But it's not just the warships themselves, it also includes the development of the prop, the turbine, the ironclad, the torpedo, and battle tactics, so basically all of the things that make the warship what it is today. Unfortunately, they don't run the show anymore, but I think you can buy it on amazon or something like that.
