I had the pleasure yesterday of finally meeting an old friend in person for the first time. Rick "1baddude" Simmons and his wife Tanni came to visit the studio and spent a little time with us.
Rick was one of the Iron Wolves betas that spent a huge amount of time writing tactical papers, analyzing Iron Wolves and formulating ideas and changes to improve the gameplay experience. This work, along with similar work done by Buxton, Shad and Argon, became the design elements from which we created Enigma's ultimate design.
Those of you who were Iron Wolves betas know what I'm talking about.

I certainly remember 1baddude ! 1bad is somewhat an icon of Iron Wolves and that era ... great guy!
I doubt there would be many here that would know of 1baddude or even Iron Wolves, however the old IW group over on the Tides main forums would certainly remember ol'1bad ! Nice to know he's still about and visited with you..
East you might want to pass on to Rick to make a visit to the Central Islands Hotel on the Tides main forums .... I'm sure he would find that interesting as well as bring back old memories .. ..

Shameless Plug: Iron Wolves was a very populare Submarine game .. hundreds of players on at one time. Iron Wolves went 'deep blue' or "Davies Locker" one day by total accident ... a server maintenance wiped the hard drive clean .. even the source code was lost. Ever since that time Iron Wolves players have always wanted a new Iron Wolves. Deep Blue Sea is a project trying to do just that .. replace that old Iron Wolves with something EZ to jump in and play by anyone for hours and hours of fun.
The only thing holding this project up is 'funding'. This project supported by Tides of War and the developer is hoping to have a product in beta at a near future date, once again 'funding' is the real issue.

I've been looking around this board and I recognize many many names here.
I'm not sure what shameless post really means but I just gotta say this.
The actual game play of Iron Wolves wasn't all that. Crappy graphics on a crappy server and later over priced. However, It wasn't who you could sink or how good you were, how many points you could get or anything of the kind. It was all about the people. From Australlia (The Skipper) to across the pond and all over the world. yep, Even Kentucky (Ironsides). We created a bond which is itched in stone and is to this day the very sole reason that Enigma even exsists. It's something I miss and hope really developes or has devloped here.
I entend on hanging out a while. Been outta touch from all my old friends and hope to see that change. I'd be kidding you if I said Iron Wolves wasn't a blast at it's best. It flat rocked !!!
Some of you know where I'm coming from.. Lets here from you.
Where is Drifter, Iceman, Romal, JD, Nemo, Deogee, Ikaika, Aussie Skipper, Klip, Daffy, Popeye, Von Sinkum and the thousands of others who traveled the Seas. Sorry if I forgot to mention your name because I asssure you you are not forgotten.
