Patrols...

#1
Ive been running alot of the different tactical patrols recently....in the german sub patrols. the outcome is often the same. I end up hitting escape and returning to port because im out of battery power, submerged, and theres destroyers around. Seems like I either come across a pack of war ships, or a pack of cargo ships, but once I attack, Destroyers and escorts show up in large numbers. I take alot of these guys out...but eventually I run out of juice before being able to take them ALL out....yestaerday I came close, was dead in the water with a destroyer and an enemy sub nearby...the sub torp'd his friendly destroyer by accident trying to get me, and sank it...I thought i was home free to surface and duke it out with the sub, but he smoked me with a 4 spread as soon as i surfaced...!

Anyway, wanted to see if this has been the experience for you guys...Ive had just about littel to no luck in evading enemy ships after attack...the silent running and course changes dont appear to be very effective...

Silence doesnt work in E:RT for some reason the "blip" of a vessel is always visible on the tac'screens (if within 16K range), just as you know they are there, they know you are there too.

Did you ever notice how DDs & DEs always seems to circle around you like a pack of hungry wolves just waiting for you to come out of your hiding spot?

Well skipper you can take advantage of that, it takes a little practice, but its most certainly doable.

When you are dead in the water dive to ~30m set your mini tac to 500m set your torps to max speed at 0/1m depth.

as the "blips" are about to pass your aft/bow shoot to sink.

sometimes you can also just go to 19m and bring up the tac'scope then you can see their keels (with 19m i mean the absolute minimum depth needed to raise the scope)

occasionally one or 2 ships may attempt to run over you and drop some cans, switch to specatator view and adjust depth as you see the changes dropped (usually you can just head up to 15-17m and youre home free of the charges (unless one of them strikes you).

Myself I have managed to take out 8 DDs and 12 DEs this way before they got tired of playing hide and seek and sent a swarm of depth changres all over me.

You and I are going to have some fun in Multiplayer my friend...it seems we have damn near identical strategies in place. :D I have used the method somewhat succesfully...I sometimes fire torps from 40m in this setting if i have the room between boats for the torps to get to surface...sometimes it just seems like they never stop coming, though....

Im not sure what makes them circle, maybe they wanna spend torps on each other (yes that happens a lot when there are plenty circling around you) rather than use cans.

Most they circles around me, could be my l??t k4?m4 that holds them off i dunno :D :D
