Help,
I am new to the game and find it a whole lot of fun. However, in this patrol mission I am having a little trouble. I can get one of the subs but the others come at me from what seems all directions. What is the tactic to get the others without getting sunk?
I have the Gold edition. Just curious to know if I need any patches? I have 3.0.1 which seem to have all the latest.

Thank you for your reply.
During some research I came across the thread you referenced and i used it in the other patrols before this one. I got pretty consistent at defeating subs in those missions. However there was only one sub, not three. In this patrol mission I try the tactic, which is difficult to manuver into, but it seems that right when I am going in for the "kill" torps start coming at me and either i get nailed or am unable to continue my attack. If I do happen to 'get' the sub I am running into the path of the other subs which seemed to have 'set' me up.
When going in for the kill and I am alerted to the torps coming, should I "clear out" and head for another target or run for it? I have tried many different tactics but have been unable to consistently complete the sim.
Believe me when I say that I appreciate your help but, are there other tactics that I should also be using?
Thank you again

OK.. first of all those other tips are for getting the basics down. Think about every advantage you have over subs and plan your attack when its the right time. You must adlib, and shoot from the hip, and work your ship at your own speed with your own plan. What I can do may or may not be able to be copied by you or anyone else.
Dont get surrounded.. make a mental circle that would enclose the targets but not you.. stay outside that circle and keep the enemies positions in a known location where your weapons are maximized..
Keep the pointy end of your weapons at all three subs at all times.. stay on the outside of the target area.. go back outside once you have dipped inside for a depth charge or hedgehog run on one enemy at a time.. until you master techniques to run over more subs at once..
Remember to observe both the FARTHER & NEARER settings on your display, dont just watch the 4k zoomed out setting.. closer in settings allow you to see triangles designating the subs "most accurate" position & course given the various factors of yours and his speeds and background noises, depth charges, etc..
Use the BIG display to click on a sub to observe his reported speed, watch for changes..
Identify the sub type, and cross reference it to a chart of known sub types to determine how many bow and aft torps he has at any given time, or be aware of his top speed both above and under.
Eventually they have to breathe.. they will come up.. prepare to engage target with deck guns, even if its not the one you are near..
They can disappear sometimes for a great deal of time.. that means they are running silent & slow unless you recognized the sound of crushing a sub just before they blinked out off the display..
They can cluster or spread out.. take the furthest out sub to allow time & distance away from other torps coming at you.. if incoming torps are reported, make sure you keep one of your eyes on it, and place yourself on new course & speed so he misses..
You may have a ship with torps.. torps can travel at different depths. Down low if needed..
You may have a ship with hedgehogs on the bow. Force a sub down, as you approach, keep them down as you leave by dropping DC off the rear.
Remember, in real life they didnt often get to fail more than once, play the game as if it were real, and dont take unnecessary chances getting too close..
