Having A Difficult Time

Your tips have helped alot, but i went on a Patrol with 3 enemy subs, and charged one to davey jones. Unfortunately, the other two escaped after I ran out of depth charges (75 to begin with)

They rarely stopped moving, and most of the time i took a run at them, the were travelling straight underneath me. I dropped charges about half way between the 2 inner-most rings while the big map was set to .5, and continued dropping in Single Pairs changing the depth by about 20-30 at each interval. The time I sank a U-Boat, was when i thought i got the distance between us wrong, and I just panicked messing up the depth between drops (sometimes as low as 10, others as high as 40. Somehow, it hit him.

Another time, he was coming straight for me at one stage, then just did a sudden 90 degree turn after I'd dropped 2 single pairs. I think i just need alot more practice at it. Is there anywhere I can get like a picture guide, or even better, a video of somebody sinking a U-Boat? It would help me alot

Thanks :)

By the way, Sorry for double post - I edited last one but nobody responded - I'm just kinda desperate for help on killing U-Boats

First, get the gold patch. It gives you 300-ish charges.

If they ain't movin and ne'er do, they're miles off and you're radar is picking up a whale, or just sit on them and keep dropping charges @ dif intervals.

It's okay to screw up - matter o' fact, its hard not to. I usually end up clicking what I think is just a wee bit more and it ends up being 50 more. It's life. The voice command really helps with this.

Maybe you're not screwing up, and I am. Try different methods different times, see what works best, and post it. If more poeple try it and find it works well, you'll be signing autographs in a week.

Remember when dropping coming towards him drop deeper first and when going away drop deeper last, with one deep one in the middle. O/w you end up w/ s'm like this...

\.........../

..\......./

<-\ _ /->

With the arrows as the enemy. Sry 'bout the periods, it dun like spaces. You do it right...

......_

..../...\

../.......\

/..<-/->.\

So, the order does matter a lot.

Remember even if you hit the hull of the sub, it dun kill 'em. Being a sub cap... they can take quite a beating and you may have to run this routine many times. Chances are you're giving them a run for their bubbles, and prolly hitting them, just not enough. A damage report *cough* EAST *cough* would be nice at the end of a level so you know if you even hit them. You prolly are, anyways. Remember if he's stopped, its a good idea to stop on top of him, facing w/ him, then drop. Since you're facing w/ him, you can keep over him if he tries to run. If he does, drop in front of him.

I will make you a slideshow this weekend... (would make a movie, but fraps only lets 30 seconds) tests all this week, though. Still have some time to type up stuff for ya. GL, & keep posting.

BTW, the M method works best. Just remembered, sry. Here it is:

.._....._

./.\.../.\

./..\../..\

/.<-\/->.\

Drop them really really close together. REALLY close. 'member to have the same heading as him for all of these methods.

O/w, subs move slow, just try dropping some right on him until you figure out a better method.

The M is if ya have lotsa single pairs ta drop w/out reloading, the n thing is for having fewer pairs... giving them weird names...

I've been on and tried your tips, and I'm starting to strike with a bit more precision now. Managed to get one using one run, when normally I have to 'go-around' all the time, due to either him changing direction, or the radar/sonar giving me a hard time. Anyway, like I said, I wrote down what you said in a nut-shell and followed it, and got him using about 4-5 single pairs (god knows which ones hit him, but neither I nor he care much anymore :roll: )

I agree with a damage report, I was just finishing a mission due to frustration only to find out I didnt know whether or not I even hit him Image I'd still appreciate a slideshow if you have the time, but I wouldn't bother too much if its too much hassle

Anyway, you've helped a great deal and I really appreciate the help you've given me. Thanks alot! :D

Np, anytime. I'll still plan to make that slideshow this weekend, or maybe I can find a better trial recorder that'll give me more than 30 seconds...

Just hope I don't have to kill you in MP :oD . Remember, because most of these methods involve having the same heading as the sub, watch out for his tubes (although I'm not sure cpu's are that daring... *smooths back his hair* ;o) ).

Say no more about it. Glad it helped. Lets all keep sharing little tidbits with noobies as we get older and wiser in this game.. just dont spoil it too fast and take away all the fun of discovery unless the noobie is threatening to do something drastic, like quit. Use good judgement, train as many people as you can, someday multiplayer will be filled with dangerous opponents and skillful teammates.
