Thanks for a lot of "fun". Buying this game I expected to find an interesting and thrilling simulation. Instead I've got a total frustration trying to complete the LFN #7 mission. Can you imagine a navy commander who would send a single destroyer aginst two enemy destroyers, three bombers and one submarine? How the hell can I beat this oppsition?!

You are supposed to try and keep the enemy DE's near the US submarine so it will help sink them for you. If you are lucky the sub will get one and they'll get the sub. Use your tubes, stay at range and circle to keep them near the sub. Your ship is tougher and has guns with further range on them.

Very nice tactics. Will it take hour or two? And I have noticed that German gunners are incredibly accurate. When your guns just disturb the water around German DE's, they pondering you with amazing efficiency and you can't stay long. I do not know about the range. I haven't noticed that my guns have greater range for we start to fire at each other simultaneously. And once again there's no use for toughness of my ship because Germans are ACCURATE AS HELL and you are nowhere as good. Image

If you drive a simple pattern, the enemy will hammer you. If you zigzag, their gunners have the same challenge yours do. Be sure to position yourself to bring the most guns to bear. Also, select just one of the ships for your gunners to focus on (left click on it in the tactical display), select the guns to train (weapons buttons on the hud) and click fire. All the selected guns will focus on that ship. Try to manuever the enemy DE's between each other so only 1 can really shoot at you at at time.

Takes practice and willingess to vary your tactics until it works.

I can't understand, why while enemies drive a simple pattern I still cannot hammer them. Of course, I will vary tactics on and finally I will complete the mission sooner or later. I would only ask not to forget that Enigma is a warfleet simulation and not a quest or puzzle game. Simulation is not about carefully studying a single mission for days and slowly figuring out the way to win.

Any other suggestions on this one? or have I been very unlucky?

I have tried it a few times now to say the least, I manage to get ride of the flyers with a tiny bit of damage, and then work my way into range of th destroyers, but Wham

I get hammered by 8 out of 10 rounds and the game is over, and thats just from 1 DD

*sighs* And I dont even know if my guns are hitting it back LOL

I was quite impressed with myself, as it only took me three tries to beat this particular mission.

My mission began as I was informed that some German ships were engaging a submarine. I noticed incoming aircraft at about twenty miles distance so I decided that trying to engage ships and aircraft was a bad idea.

To that end, I steamed south at flank speed and drew the aircraft away from the surface ships. I began blowing out my AA stock on the attacking aircraft. I finally ran out. In despiration, I tagged each aircraft in succession and attacked with my 5 inch guns. I blew the daylights out of all three German planes, then turned to move in on the two german ships. I took the first one out from some distance with guns, and then piped a fish into the port beam of the second one from about 1KM out.

The next mission seems to be a bit of a challenge... no planes to deal with, but damn are those transports well armed!!!

I seem to be doing this wrong then as my gunners wait until I am within range of the enemys guns before firing. Everybody is saying that we have more range on our guns, but its not working that way for me lol
