Any News Yet On Multiplayer ?

Closest thing I can find to an answer
East: Reported: Nov 6 2004, 03:59 AM? ?
1) Multiplayer is under concentrated development as I type this.

2) There will be land and ports (limited representation at first most likely)

3) The initial MP world will be focused on the AZORES from the Madeiras in the SouthEast to 100km NW of Corvo. This is a BIG area.
I'm assuming Q2-Q3 this year but don't quote me on that.

East/Jesper, perhaps a post needs to be put on the main forum board as this is the third question of this nature I have seen recently. Perhaps list a few things still needing to be done on MP or what has been done. (Depends on which list looks larger  You don't want people to see a HUGE list of things to be done.)

The list of developers added on the 23rd was a great idea. I understand that your programers would rather work on the game then posting updates on the forum, but a few "DEVLOGS" might help encourage some of the people waiting for Multiplayer.

Edit: Who do I have to bribe to help beta test? Image

Yes Reaves , I've seen the postings .

We know Tesseraction & co are sincerely wishing and trying to realize multiplayer as loyally to the equaly loyal ' multitude ' of us who have been waiting these years .

Once there was discussion on alternatives , XP , or whatever .

I believe the strategy should be to concentrate on multiplayer , and , indeed , not spend efforts and time on anything else .

I believe this is being done .

.

Some news on how the GMX case has progressed ( or not ) would be welcome , I have never seen a word about that , and I wonder why . ?

Any realistic estimation , if possible , on prospect of multiplayer for 2005

.

Ok, I'll post an update:

The GMX lawsuit is still actively underway - it appears that there may be some kind of shell game going on with them which is making the lawsuit take a very long time; there may be as many as 5 different companies involved... We just finished the first round of discovery and interrogatories. This lawsuit could take another 18 months at the rate it is going. It was filed in September of 2003.

The alternatives we have proposed are all related to trying to stay in business. We have had some very bad publisher issues: non-payment (like GMX), extremely late payment and reporting (North America), bankruptcy (Pointsoft), loss of key staff largely due to financial problems.

Our goal from the beginning has always been multiplayer. We have adjusted our strategy as necessary to stay alive. We may have to do it again. I will say at this point that the multiplayer functionality has been our core focus since last October. We have made some significant strides in the last 2 weeks, but have a very long ways to go still.

Our goal is Q3 2005. We are currently working to overcome the Pointsoft bankruptcy - this has the ability to severely impair our progress. Fair Warning.

If you think this is easy....you try it!

Cheers,

East

Thanks for the update. All I can say is a hard job is being made harder by the publishers. Pointsoft maybe can't be blamed much if they're going bankrupt. Good luck any way.

-Sorry Baron, could have sworn your post was asking about Multi-player and not the lawsuit. I suppose they are almost the same question though because if all goes well then the development might get a boost.

Thanks again East .

.

amny of us have complete sympathy with you all at Tesseraction who created the game and have had the hindrances along the way .

The number of players continues to increase , and most of us , plus those yet to discover it will be ready to begin when multiplayer finally materialises .

In the game patience also is part .

Pity that GMX seems to have others to share in the spoils when it goes bust , which might mean not 100% of dues wiull be paid , but it deserves total annihilation anyway !

2005 could be a good year for naval games , interest can only grow as Trafalgar bicentennial approaches .

This link shows what it might have meant for America is the result had been different .

It might take another year before multiplayer , andit's good to have a more realistic expectation , rather than too optimistic , but remain fully confident that it will happen .

Tesseraction must stay in business !
