A Few Voice Command Issues

#1
G'day all

I'm experiencing a few voice command oddities I'm hoping you can advise me on.

A few times I have tried to order hedgehogs, calling "fire mortar", but the command causes my depth charges to roll, even though the screen order shows "hedgehogs" being fired. I have to fire them manually and sometimes clicking on hedgehogs to select them (and they are ready to fire), when I hit fire, depth charges roll off first! I have to click the fire button manually.

Also, several times i will use voice orders "roll charges", I will get an acknowledgement on the screen "roll charges aye" (or something), but nothing will happen. Tonight I made multiple runs an a sub, selecting depth with the mouse, but when I tried to use the voice command to roll the charges nothing would happen, even though the program acknowledged the order. Could I need to set depth by voice as well?

Most other voice commands seem to be working fine - I can conn the ship fine, but sometimes for no reason (or maybe after I click on a target on the BTAC), charges will roll for no reason, with the screen showing "attacking target XX at 1,200 metres" or something.

I'm a bit confused - advice appreciated.

cheers

Also Smith , ; You can say for example " Set charges - ....." Just add number .

five zero ,,,for example. [ This can be ANY number - down to 200 - the limit of sub depth ...but . nine nine nine is the charges limit !

( Used when I just wanted to see if possible ! )

It does sound like oddities,, maybe the voice trainer will help. Let us know.

Occasionally my torpedoes will not fire on voice command , and I have to click onine at least , before any will fire on voice - oddly , the leftmost torpedo willnot fire even when mouse-clicked when this happens !

Voice training I did a few times but this still happens.

A minor thing really.

On surface vessels, often when I issue the ENGAGE voice command, besides getting the correct message in response to the ENGAGE command, depth charges are launched.
Now this means that a single command is in fact triggering two separate actions. So something must be wrong here.
Have had the same situation.

With my Strike Rate, I certainly can't afford to have charges wasted by over-excitable crew

Yes, I've been on a run setting up to slam down some DCs, with the sub still 500m+ from me or more, only to find the computer starts rolling my precious depth charges for no reason! When I get to the point when I actually want to roll some out, the racks are still reloading!

The AI must be wondering what i'm up to, with these runs, but no depth charges. At least I can hope I'm contributing to a sweaty, nervious "Das Boot" style environment down there, with the enemy submariners looking at the ceiling of their boat, hearing the screws getting louder, ASDIC like gravel thrown against their hull, the tension reaching a fever pitch, a crewman silentyly vomiting, others praying, Hans, the young guy going crazy, fighting to get to the hatch, and the wise old petty officer slapping him to calm him, and then ... nothing.

He he. :)

mixed actions on one spoken command can be cause you have a little break when you speak, like "a..hea..d flan..k" or it can be:

sAPI not picking up your voice properly (train profile & adjust accuracy/speed settings).

TV is on (turn it off)

Issuing 2 or more commands at the same time (eg ahead.. back.. hard port (unfinished commands))

Broken mike (try another mike if possible)

sAPI is broken (reinstall/repair, from ert CD)

I heavily trained my SAPI.

I speak a fluent non-descript US accented English.

No one else is in the room.

There are no sound sources in the room at the time.

I'm using a Logitech USB headset with mike.

No other command is being issued immediately before or after the ENGAGE command.

There are only 2 syllables in the word ENGAGE. No matter how fast or slow I pronounce the word, this happens.
