Ever notice when you try to manually shoot with your big deck guns while looking

through the cross hairs you use the up/down buttons to raise or lower the barrel of

your gun. There seems to be a place in the scope that you need or want to target,

but it will only allow you to aim in increments which is either "just too high" or "just too low".

Was this an inteneded aspect of the game or could there be some more "fine tuning" with the current targeting systems.

In otherwords instead of say (and im using this as an example) being able to raise or lower the gun in 1/4 inch increments,, maybe allowing 1/ 16" increments for a more precise shot .

I dont know how many times ive shot at a ship and just went over the bow,,, but when i tried to lower the barrel one notch I shoot just before the target leaving that gap that u can only compensate usually by changing the distance or heading of your ship to compensate.

I just use my mouse

Whilst I don't use manual guns myself, I agree the keys should allow fine adjustment (maybe something like shift+arrow could be used to switch between coarse/fine?)

omg: Do you ever really get th time to settle into a manual targeting mode?

big seas fast moving targets makes for a few seconds of gunnery.(much like aviation sims) after a lot of practice it becomes almost slow motion.Only practice makes perfect, after a fair bit of practice you get to work out hieght increments versus distance. With my MS strategic Commander mouse I can rotate and elevate easily a wheel mouse can do the same.After a fair bit of practice and looking seriouusly at the targets of your available forces you will learn the art of straddling the targets by selecting two targets split between your attacking forces in other words if you miss the nearest you have a good chance of hitting the next furthest or straddling both.Depending on whether the water spouts falls before or over the targets drop or raise 1 increment until you find the target the go down 1 increment as the range shortens the following target will also be in range of your previous elevation.

If you press the CTRL key along with the arrow keys the adjustment is finer. Pressing the shift key while using your mouse restricts it to horizontal movement - locks the vertical (range).

You can also use "V" to toggle voice command on and off.
