Why An Alternate Timeline?

Was it for the benefit of having an online 'story?'
I only ask because WWII online doesn't change history as such. :)
The alternate history made it easier for them to not be bogged down with going through the Nazi thing and makes the game more interesting because they are not confined to historical places and battles.
Good question Tirpitz.  We wanted to create a game that could be played from any country in Europe, not just WWII allies.  We also wanted to take WWII combat where other games haven't gone - have some freedom of expression within a framework that we all love without being disrespectful.
Okay then. I'm not complaining, it just means that some of the more memorable British ships may not make a showing, ie the KGV class, as well as the K-Class Destroyers(I would love you forever if HMS Kelly was in there - I LOVE that ship!)
However, it does mean that we should have at least some of the Kriegsmarine vessels from WWII. Let me have the Scharnhorst or Tirpitz (naturally) and I'll be as happy as anything! :D
You may find out the status of the Tirpitz when you finish one of the single player campaigns....
