Hey everyone. Glad to see an imaginitive and realistic naval game arrive. I have installed enigma on my machine and it has proven to be just that, an enigma. I am running win 98 se, and NO i cant upgrade. 850 amd, geforce 2 mx 400 and a via chipset on board all drivers are current. When i open up game, go to mission { patrol} and select the mission screen pops up, then my cursor will freeze, and cd rom stops romming. Have to reboot machine afterwords. Getting Very frustrated. Any help or suggestions?

I'm sure TesserAction's East will come on board and tell you what he thinks of your GF2 MX card.
That's the component I would replace before tinkering with anything else.
Oh, and what sound card do you have?

well my gf 2 mx DOES suck, but I am just a poor gamer so....... Any how, I have an on board via chipset system for an amd board, seems to work ok with the other high end games such as halo, freelancer, moh, jk2 and such. updated my dx to 9.0b, still no change. gonna call the tech heads to morrow i guess, so they can hold my hand and all.

Hi,
You need to upgrade your video drivers too if you havent:
http://www.nvidia.com its as easy as scratch your left ear with your right hand.
Also if you could tell us what soundcrad you have, and also update the drivers to that.
Is it a onboard card or a PCI expansion card ?
Also you can try lower the sound accelration to none in DXDIAG.
Start->Run and type dxdiag and hit OK
click on the sound tab and move the acceleration leveler to NONE or BASIC, click EXIT and start Enigma.

OK gang, I updated my drivers. I have an integrated via chipset sound device, so it is part of the main board. I had the NEW drivers, but it they dont work so well with win 98, so i got yhe older 4 in 1 from via, 4.95, everything is peachy now. this is an AWESOME game!! very cool. my next question is in regards to voice command. I have a ps2 headset from logitech, for my playstation, my pc sees it as a usb logitech headset, and it works ok, but i get that mic ini failed statement when i try to test it out. however there are no drivers that i am aware of for this on line, and all of logitechs other mics have no downloads. anyone know if this thing works for enigma?

Regarding your mike, it works, there is a few things you need to do, everything you need can be found here in the tech support forum.

ok heres the deal. i have enabled my mike via the speech program in control panel, tests ok, used thevoice recognition software from the enigma disk, updated drivers on my board, cant really find much else, still get the init failure. i know that this is a tired {and sore } subject, however if you could direct me to a comprehensive list of things to do, perhaps i can get it up abd running. question: the game is cool without the mic, but very difficult due to jumping around with the mouse, with the mic, is the game any better? also, maybe a list on the main subject board regarding mic trouble shootin would be a good idea, eliminate all of us noobs from cluttering up the place.

the game is 1000000000x better using a mike
click ->control panel->speech->sound input
select "use this device" click the pulldown arrow and select "wave device" click OK twice, & close control panel, start Enigma.
