Seeking shelter in the shadow of a KLM tanker it sunk off the west African coast, RNEF Motor Torpedo Boat (MTB) 235, temporarily takes cover from a German corvette approaching in the distance. MTB 235, along with another RNEF MTB, managed to evade the corvette's main guns and return safely to port.
Unfortunately, one RNEF MTB was sunk by a second German corvette while battling other KLM cargo ships nearby. No survivors were spotted. Families of the lost crew have been notified.
