Somewhere in the south Atlantic, an escorted oiler (center, background) takes a direct torpedo hit from a submerged German sub, as the Destroyer Escort HMS Sealark (foreground) veers hard to port to evade two more inbound torpedos.

After a lengthy pursuit by the Sealark and another RNE destroyer escort, the enemy retreated and the convoy continued safely on its journey.
