If I am at internal view and holding down the left mouse button like when I'm panning around looking through the periscope, and then if I go to external view without letting up on the left mouse button. Then use the right mouse button to zoom out and then the left mouse button to zoom in, it continues to zoom in fully even after I let up on the left mouse button. And then it's stuck in a fully zoomed in view and stays that way until I completely relaunch the game.
Describing this sounds like you have to go though a lot of specific steps to make this occure, but it's a pattern that happens quite easily and often even though I know how to avoid it.
Is anyone else able to duplicate this? I'm using a microsoft intellipoint mouse.

I use windows xp home, and a geforce mx 440 vid card.
Sometimes when the game is loading once i have accepted a mission, the sound
and game blotches for a few secs,, i hit the (p) button and pause the game for
10 or 15 secs to let the game finish loading,,, once i see my hard drive indicator
light settle down i unpause the game and it works perfect from there on out.
I have only had the game "crash" one time on start up.
After reading a post from East saying there is actual problems in the encoding
on my video card itself when running enigma, i was concerned.
Im able to play other mmogs with no problems,, such as Everquest.
But as of now I am able to play the single player version pretty much ok.
Sometimes in a later mission with many ships in view if i hit the wide view
button my graphics glitches some, probably from so much data bein transffered.

The freeze may very well be due to the videocard, Im sure East has more information regarding the issues with this card and Enigma RT.
The glitches can be:
Low RAM
Low CPU
Slow Harddisk
Videocard
Soundcard
or a combination of 2 or more.
What is your CPU speed and RAM amount ?

Before you start looking at video cards etc .. Try clicking a couple of times left...on mouse and then right click,, It happened once to me , and I discovered that , since then , a few times it has solved the prob.
